Madurai, Mar 27: The Rajnikanth Fans Association on Sunday split with a faction, ignoring the actor’s statement that he would not extend open support to any party, deciding to support AIADMK-led front for the coming Assembly polls.
Office bearers of ten district units, who met at Karaikudi in Sivaganga district, did not pay heed to the pleadings of Satyanarayana, president of the association, not to go ahead with the meeting and extend open support to any party.

Through Satyanarayana, Rajnikant had recently stated that he would not support any party in the polls and his fans could support persons of their choice. However, they were warned against using the association’s name.

Last week, office bearers of the Thanjavur district unit met AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa at Chennai to offer their support to her party.

Office-bearers of the association’s units of Madurai, Sivanganga, Tiruvarur, Tiruchirapalli, Perambalur, Nagapattinam, Nilgiri, Pudukottai and Thanjavur participated in the meeting. The Pondicherry state unit functionaries did not attend the meeting.
