Congratulations to all the recipients of Rachana Awards.
I know Mr. Lawrence Mendonca for the last 30 years, and I believe that Rachana has chosen wisely in conferring him the award. He is a pioneer among Mangloreans in the UAE who started an engineering business in 1976 (36 years ago) and now with 8 companies which employ more than a 1000 people. In addition his charitable work is very well known over the last 40 years. Entrepreneurs that Stany D’Sa has mentioned are eligible, but Stany needs to ensure that their nomination is sent to the Rachana Committee. In addition donating 25 crores does not make a person eligible for entrepreneurship award but should be honoured under the charitable category.

Congratulations to all the recipients of the Rachana Awards. These are indeed the deserving Distinguished members of our community that need be recognized for their outstanding service not only to the community but also the country. Everyone is the winner.

Christian community in India is an unique flock ed by God that is blessed so abundantly with so much of freedom and ability to offer best to the people and to the nation. We are just two percent of "Mahabharatha" and we have so much to offer to the great nation of India.

Secular society in a country with the second largest population of the world has to pass thru so many untold challenges and circumstances, and therefore those people in our community that outshine with all their dedication and service need timely recognition and applause. We the Christians in India are indeed the role models to other communities in India because of our consistent and noteworthy service that benefits the people and the community as a whole without any pre-conditions or distinctions.

When leaders such as Shriman Rohan Monteiro and Lawrence Mendonca and many others do so much for our small community in India, we from a distance are encouraged to whisper a word of praise and also a whisper a simple prayer so that our country may continue to benefit from their dedication and service to the nation and to the people.

We have to also some of our noteworthy nuns and priests in our community that are offering some of their extraordinary talents thru their value of Education and Charitable Institutions that benefit lakhs of people of all faiths and backgrounds. We have a great admiration for them. The Government of India should be extremely proud of the Christians of Mangalore in particular, and India in general, because there is something special that goes far and beyond in the vibrant secular society of ours that makes us feel proud and rejoicing.

Congratulations, once again, for a job well done, and "Dhanyawaadh".
