Dubai: Josna Martis elected president of Konkan Yuva

Dubai, Nov 3: Konkan Yuva Dubai have unanimously elected Josna Martis as their honorary president for the coming term. Josna hails from Shirva parish and has been an active member of Konkan Yuva.

She has been a core committee member of Konkan Yuva since 2010.

Josna takes over the post of president from Blasius D'Souza who has served Konkan Yuva effectively in the past years as a member and honorary president.

Josna is tasked with uniting the youth from the Konkan belt residing in the UAE and affirm Konkan Yuva's mission of being "a home away from home."

An elated Josna said, "I am very delighted at such a unanimous decision from the members of Konkan Yuva. At the same time, I am also given a major responsibility of bringing all the Konkan youth together. Konkan Yuva is viewed as an energetic and dynamic group of youngsters and I will make all efforts to further strengthen our position. With the other elected members, I am sure Konkan Yuva will reach new heights."

Josna further added, "Since the humble beginnings of Konkan Yuva, our main motive has been to be a helping hand to our co Konkan youth. I know how hard it is to be alone in a new place, new environment. We would like Konkan Yuva to be a friend in need and shoulder to the needy youngsters from Konkan region."

Blasius, the outgoing president said, “I am delighted with the appointment of Josna Martis as the new president. She has donned many hats in KY during the last few years and has been instrumental in bringing positive change to the organisation. In 2012 -13, she spearheaded Konkan Yuva’s international outreach programme which included 10 of Konkan Yuva members' maiden WYD (World Youth Day) participation in Brazil.

Josna's extensive experience of working with the community associations in Dubai and Mangalore and her grasp of youth welfare will enable her to effectively implement growth KY’s mission and develop a strong platform for Konkan Youth in Dubai."

About Konkan Yuva

Konkan Yuva Dubai is a young and dynamic group of individuals belonging to the Konkan region of India. Konkan Yuva, in the preceding years has handled various big and small projects including mega drama event, participation at World Youth Day held in Brazil, educational seminars for the youth, managing Family Festival, Sports Festival, youth mass at St Mary's Church, as well as providing event management support for various Konkani events across U.A.E.
