Mangalore, Nov 5: A man, said to be mentally ill, created a scene at Nantoor here on Tuesday November 5 as he went on a rampage throwing stones at people and vehicles and even barging into houses.

The man, aged around 35-40 years and with only a pair of trousers around him, was seen wandering around in the area since morning.

Eyewitnesses said that he was blabbering and hurling stones at pedestrians and vehicles. He also tried to gain entry into some of the houses in the vicinity and was chased out, they said.

The man ran helter-skelter blabbering to himself, and finally climbed a hillock. However, he got stuck there as he was unable to get down.

The locals who gathered at the spot called the fire service and the police. With their help, the man was rescued.

On questioning, the man identified himself as Rajesh Shetty from Bokkapatna.

He spoke in Tulu and kept muttering to himself that he did not want his parents but wanted only his wife.

Kadri police who arrived at the spot took him away to provide him medical treatment.

How many persons to catch one simple mentally ill man? Two man with helmets and body cover are sufficient. They have come with fire engine and full force, waste of time. He is hungry, give some food and bananas and catch like monkey!!! He looks like veerappan!!!

Pathetic condition. He badly needs help from any mental care specialist. Some serious psychtriatic/psychological problem or addiction might have induced him to do this act. I hope soon he will recover and get his mental balance.
