Karkala: Lovebirds attempt suicide after being caught in hospital

Karkala, Nov 6: A young unmarried couple allegedly attempted suicide after their affair behind closed doors in a private nursing home got exposed on Tuesday November 5 night.
The boy who was scared of spoiling his reputation jumped from the third floor and got admitted to KMC in a serious condition. The girl cut the veins in her wrist and is fighting between life and death in the hospital.
The girl Pooja (name changed) is a resident of N R Pura, Chikmagalur, but hails from Tamil Nadu.
Pooja had joined the City Hospital as a nurse twenty days ago. She had worked in Mallya hospital for one and a half months prior to joining City Hospital. She had passed ANM course at K R Pura’s private hospital and had come to Karkala looking for a job. She was in love with a boy.
The boy, Satish (name changed) is a resident of Borkatte. The parents of the girl said that her uncle Girish and the boy and his brother were employed in a hotel in Mumbai. Girish had informed that Pooja has got a job in Mallya hospital. When Pooja was brought to Karkala by her parents they had a dinner at Satish's house. The acquaintance transformed into love between Pooja and Satish.
On Tuesday Pooja had night duty at the City Hospital. Her friend Satish had brought her a food parcel into her room at 10 pm. The watchman had noticed him entering the room though only ladies staff are allowed inside. The watchman went to the door and asked them to open it. When there was no response, and as the news spread, a large number of people gathered outside the door. After a while, Pooja opened the door and threatened the watchman. She questioned him for troubling her when nobody had entered the room.
When the watchman finally entered the room, he found Satish hiding there. When Satish was driven out, the nurse again closed the door and latched it. As she did not open the door despite Satish’s pleas, he jumped from the third floor and tried to commit suicide, it is learnt.
Amid all the screaming of the staff, Pooja came out of the room with blood oozing from her wrist. Satish was found with multiple fractures and was rushed to KMC hospital after first aid at City Hospital. His condition is said to be serious.
A case has been registered in the Karkala police station.
