Abu Dhabi – Nov 7 :  Friday 15 November 2013, Abu Dhabi will be witnessing a brilliant Konkani Play “Ami Nathllyaa Velaar” perfomed by  the members  of ‘Daiji Rang Mandir’ – an amateur  theater group from Dubai at Abu Dhabi’s prestigious – India Social and Cultural Centre at 07:30 p.m.

The play will be presented by Konkani Cultural Organization (KCO) in association  with Abu Dhabi’s Konkani Community in aid of the construction of New Churches at Abu Dhabi and Mussafah.

'Ami Nathllyaa Velaar', is a thrilling social drama, originally a Marathi play by Madhussodhan Kallelkar, later translated to Kannada by Ramananda Choorya  (Navilladaga).  The play is based on a true life story of a Navy Commander and his family, which became a sensational case in Maharashtra back in 1959. This play has created a record by staging over 5000 shows in Marathi, Kannada, Konkani and Tulu.

The popular drama, which has already received tremendous accolades in Dubai, Bangalore, Udupi and Doha recently where it was enacted successfully by the same troupe, is set to capture the hearts of all Konkani lovers of Abu Dhabi by its electrifying performances.  The play is filled  with emotions, comedy, powerful dialogue delivery and finally the great climax.

For the first time  a Konkani play will have one scene shot like a brief telefilm and presented on a big screen during the play  - an innovative experiment used in a Konkani Play.

The play is directed by seasoned Dayan D’Souza – a great entertainer himself who will be performing a key role  along with Walter Nandalike enacting the main role of a Naval Officer who will be seen for the first time on stage as an actor in Abu Dhabi, Asha Correa, Alphonse D’Souza, Nanu Marol, Godwyn Castelino, Pradeep Barboza, Alwyn Pinto, Lavina Fernandes, Cynthia Pinto and Keegan Fernandes will be the other artistes.

Music will be provided by  Kethan and Arun and dance by Arun Lobo

Speaking to Daijiworld, the play’s director – Dayan says “we are excited to perform in front of Abu Dhabi audience for the first time and look forward to perform to our best of our ability and promise that we won’t disappoint them with our performance”.

The play has already garnered tremendous interest among the Konkani Theatre lover of Abu Dhabi and the organizers hope to have a house full show.

Bennette D’Mello – President of KCO, is positive that their efforts in presenting the Play in Abu Dhabi will definitely bear fruit and help in their mission to help the church projects.

It is an excellent opportunity for Abu Dhabi’s Konkani audience to witness this marvelous play and which should not be missed.

The Konkani community has worked hard to bring this play to Abu Dhabi to lend their helping hand to assist the church authorities in the construction of new churches and support from the people is solicited for its success.
