Dubai: Music, dance, felicitations mark Emirates Putturians annual event

Dubai, Nov 10: The annual get-together of Emirates Putturians was held on Friday November 8 at Rocky’s Club, Regent Palace Hotel, Karama.

The event started with a prayer by Uttam at 11:30 am. People from Al Ain, Fujairah, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other places witnessed the event, thereby making up a healthy gathering.

Alex Gonsalves, president of the Association welcomed the gathering; Gilbert Mascarenhas accompanied by Amanda Gonsalves were incharge of the registration.

The programme had an added charm with foot-tapping numbers by local band “Sequels” comprising of Russel Sequeira, Milan Baptist, Vincent Rodrigues, Melwin D’Souza, Nisha Sequeira, Wilson and Errol; added numbers sung by Lancy Madtha, Joseph Mathias, Lancy Noronha, Milton Peres, Deena, Sandra and Rebeca Monis and the enthusiastic dance performances showcased by Ancil Mascarenhas and Lenita Noronha; Shayna, Joyston and Aurelia.

The short and sweet felicitation was done to the distinguished guests C L Mascarenhas and Joe D’Souza along with their spouses Jessy and Philomena respectively, who happened to be in Dubai on this occasion

Ajit Coelho vice-president felicitated the main sponsors Michael D’Souza, Simon, Lancy Madtha, Joseph Mathias and all the support sponsors.

The novelty masks worn by the participants for the novelty draw, was coordinated by Antony, Arleen, and Deena.

The leftover masks were bought in auction by Simon, who in turn was the luckiest person of the day, bagging most of the novelty gifts.

The winners bagged free visit visa, rice cookers, blenders, clocks, cruise vouchers and dinner vouchers.

The delicious food at the venue together with the traditional Mangalorean cuisine from Canara Restaurant was enjoyed by the gathering.

It was truely a day to cherish for every Putturian who attended the event. The day concluded at 5.30 pm with an energetic baila by the Sequels band.

    How nice to see the "PUTTURDA MUTTUS" shining in different colours. Some of the faces like Mr. Michel D'Souza, Mr.Joe D'Souza, Mr C.L. Mascarenhas Mr.Gonsalves and others are very familiar to me. There seems to be a very good family bond existing among the PUTTURIANS. KUDOS TO YOU ALL.

    It shows a very good function organized by so called puttrians,( Putturda muttu's) congratulation if all south kanara united how nice it would be..,instead of small groups..,

    I would like to congratulate all the organizers of the event specially Mr Alex Gonsalves, Ajith Ceolho, Giblert Mascarenhas, Deena & all the people who are involved in putting up such a nice fun loving gathering.
