Dubai: Sunitha Menezes to lead Daiji Rang Mandir Artistes' Forum

Dubai, Nov 11: Sunitha Menezes, hailing from Pamboor parish of Udupi diocese, well-known as a vibrant stage artiste and talented singer, has been unanimously elected the convener of Daiji Rang Mandir for the term 2013-2015.

She was elected during the fourth general body meeting of Daiji Rang Mandir held at Winny’s Restaurant, Karama recently to choose the new office bearers for the term 2013-15.

Sunitha has played many leading roles in Konkani, Tulu and Kannada plays as well as in skits.

Sandeep D'Souza from Mukamar was elected secretary and Dainy D'Souza from Pamboor, the treasurer.

Dayan D'Souza, founder convener of Daiji Dubai and Daiji Rang Mandir, Rony Byndoor, present convener of Daiji Dubai and Alwyn Pinto, outgoing convener presided over the meeting. The meeting commenced with a prayer service by Ignatius D'Souza followed by a formal welcome note by Alwyn Pinto.

Dayan D'Souza read out the report highlighting the various achievements by Daiji Rang Mandir throughout the last tenure, especially “Aami Nathlya Vellar”, the much-acclaimed superhit thrilling Konkani play which has already received tremendous accolades in Dubai, Bangalore, Udupi and Doha. This is the first Konkani play performed by Gulf-based artistes' troupe outside the UAE. The same troupe will perform this play in Abu Dhabi on Friday November 15 and is expected to stage it in Mumbai early next year.

The new executive committee for the year 2013 – 2015 was formed under the supervision of Dayan D'Souza and the members are as follows:

Outgoing convener Alwyn Pinto thanked the Daiji Rang Mandir members for their support and cooperation during his tenure and expressed his pleasure in being the convener of Daiji Rang Mandir and wished great success to the new committee.

Newly-elected convener Sunitha Menezes also extended her heartfelt thanks to the committee members and requested the support of all the members to work together to strengthen the Forum. She promised to take an innovative lead towards working for the artistes from the community and organize Vocal Touch (voice workshop), workshops on drama enacting skills, public speaking skills for teenagers and youngsters and poetry session.

About Daiji Rang Mandir
 
Daiji Rang Mandir is co-wing of Daiji Dubai initiated by well-known theatre artiste, playwright and director Hemacharya. It came into existence year in 2007 to give support and platform to Konkani artistes around the UAE. The troupes has conducted many workshops for kids and as well adults. DRM is soon planning to conduct a workshop for budding stage artistes of UAE to provide the knowledge on stage acting. An experienced Hindi theatre artiste from Mumbai is expected to conduct the workshop. DRM is also planning to host season 4 of 'Comedy Show'.
