Beltangady: Two persons arrested for raping minor

Beltangady, Nov 13: A case was registered in Beltangady police station on Tuesday November 12 against two men for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl from Mittabagilu.

Santhosh T V (43) from Bajathottu house, near Kukkavu bridge and jeep driver Jagadish (25) were arrested in this regard.

Before their arrest, a few locals attacked the accused and damaged a car, and hence a counter complaint was also filed.


Rape at Santhosh's house

The girl’s mother and grandmother had been to town and her brother had gone to school. Hence at around 3 pm the girl went to her neighbour Santhosh’s house with the intention of talking to his wife but learnt that she had left for Bangalore.

Santhosh is then said to have locked the girl in a room and raped her.


Rape by another man

As per the information obtained, after the girl escaped from Santhosh and was going towards her house, Jagadish, who the girl was familiar with, stopped his car and offered her a lift. However, instead of dropping her home, he took the girl to a rubber farm near Dhidupe where he allegedly raped and threatened her.


Attack

Jagadish was bringing back the girl in his car, when the girl’s uncle and a few locals who were searching for her gathered around the car and attacked them. The girl was also attacked and the car was damaged.

The girl in her complaint with the Beltangady police accused the two men of raping her.

Similarly, Jagadish also filed a complaint against the attackers.

Puttur zone DySP H D Mendonca, DySP Sajith, circle inspector Lingappa, SI Prakash Devadiga visited the spot and investigated the case.

The girl's family have also complained to the women and child rights committee chief Asha Nayak.

    Sometimes I consent with those who cry 'men are discriminated against' ! Lets assume here that she was killed in the plantation instead of being driven back - what would it have been ? Another Sowjanya ?

    If it was indeed a rape, why was she calmly walking towards her house from her neighbor's place ? Why was she not screaming that she was raped (by the first man) to the second man ?

    Lets forget all that - why did she willingly boarded the second man's car ? Is it possible that she used the car before this incident for similar activity ?

    Now, is it rape because they were spotted by searching relative and villagers ? Another day of business as usual if she wasn't spotted with him ? How else can a woman go to men simultaneously ?

    Well, shouldn't the group that raised voices yesterday in Asha/Aysha's case think about cases such as this too ? Why aren't they ? Because here no Zuber/Saleem/Ummer etc are not the names but Santosh/Jagdish ?

    Hypocrisy... utter hypocrisy !

    We are commenting after reading the news and not on who was behind it.

    All the 3 involved in above case seems engaged previously as well.

    Rape case filed only after they get caught by her parents.

    What is the difference ? There is no way you get to know about it unless you have read about it somewhere or are told by someone. However, upon hearing that somebody is raped, the response is greater than upon being caught by someone.

    The public (you and me) is fooled anyway ?

    Lady Lobo there always protests about rape, it may for girl , woman or else for any religion! there r people like u in every religion always see things as u see! wat doubt u hv its correct but madam hv sex with minor its called sexual Harassment(rape) if she do by willing or not!! there r people act much but we being educated while u comment just think ok!! and for ur information who raped that girl they even got a nice beating from the crowd!!

    Kiran... I beg your pardon.. I must once again ask if the respondent (yourself) is male or a female.

    Rape is wrong - I have no disagreement with it. But, misusing the public sympathy about it is wrong. I asked for your gender clarification because a male will agree with this but a woman won't.

    In general, rape is wrong with a minor as well as a major. But, being a minor involving herself in sexual activities is a major failure of the girl, not of the man involved in it ! Explain me how I am wrong !

    That is why I started my first message with a phrase 'I must consent with those who cry men are discriminated against'

    These are all the symptoms of "CATASTROPHE". The world is going to end soon if it continues like this.

    Govt is not interested in bringing strict law against this type of crime, they are busy in implementing "BHAGYA" Schemes which is not at all required at the moment.
