Mangalore, Nov 13: Ajith Kumar Malady and his group made a clean sweep of the elections to Bunts alias Nadavara Mathr Sangha, bagging the top post of the president of the Sangha and all 20 posts of office-bearers.

The polling was held on November 10 in nine taluk centres of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi districts and Kasargod.

The counting began on Wednesday November 13 at 10 am at Ramakishna School and the results were declared after 6 pm.

Ajith Kumar Malady defeated his main opponent educationist A Sadananda Shetty by margin of 1,149 votes. While Malady garnered 4,363 votes, while Shetty got 3,214 votes.

The jubilant winners took out a procession around the Bunts Hostel circle, with Malady beaming at the crowd from atop an open jeep.

Addressing the crowd, the new Bunts Sangha president said that blessings from people had enabled him to win. He thanked his supporters and said that he would always strive to help the poor.

Commenting on the opposition that lost the election, he said, "I will not discriminate against anyone just because they have lost. We will treat everyone equally and work for the betterment of the community.

The elections were held in Mangalore, Udupi, Kundapur, Karkala, Bantwal, Puttur, Sullia, Beltangady and Kasargod. Malady's group won in all the places. Altogether, there were 40 candidates in the fray for 20 posts.

Very sad that a stalwart like Sadanand Shetty ( a member of Kanara Club ) could not garner enough votes. Malady's win does not mean that Sadanand Shetty is down and out. Sadanand Shetty still is highly respected in the Bunt Community. I congratulate Mr.Malady and team.

    Ravi Anna,

Congratulations, we had predicted this right from the start. You and your family has always worked hard to help people in need.

It is my personal opinion that doctors should not endorse any candidate (we are in a profession where we treat everyone equal) so getting some doctors to endorse you .......... I think the doctors should have known it better
when did you last read up on medical ethics.

Mr.Shetty lets now put our differences aside and work for our community.

Congratulations Mr Ajith Kumar Maalaadi and Team. The clean sweep result was unexpected and a great one. I hope your team will be capable to unite your community with pride and prestige for ever. Criticism should be there in our way of Success because it makes us very strong and Alert. There was a devide and rule in your sangha. Please break the wall which was hiding the good culture of community...I hope that all losers may understand the reality of what is real opinion...This is the best time to build your community organization in a positive manner.Put a stop to Clashes and make a real patchwork for cracks of minds.Golden opportunity is in your hand...Could You please plan for organise 2nd Vishwa Bunta Sammelana?
Henceforth please dont let anyone or any group to quarrel...All the Best.

Congrats Maladi. First of all renovate the Marriage hall of Sangha. It is now in a very dilapidated condition. No one is ready to take the hall for marriage due to its bad condition. Secondly install CC cameras in the Hall, at least in the ladies dressing Room, as an organized gang of women is busy in stealing the valuables of Ladies only during every function in that Hall. Last month during the Lions club meeting my sister's Mobile costing Rs.24,000/- was stolen by a woman thief when all the ladies were on the front stage. Or at least post a woman security guard there.
Lastly, ensure that the House Magazine " Namma Samparka" reaches each and every Home of Bunt in Tulunadu, and install suitable new software in Sangha Computers and do not insist that members should send articles only in "Nudi" . Adopt Unicode so that people can send their Kannada articles in any font through email to the Samparka magazine. People are slowly forgetting how to write by hand. Hence, your Sangha Computer should be upgraded.
Try to remove highly superstitious nature of Bunts and inculcate little bit of Rationalism. Let the educated parents of Bunt Brides & Bridegrooms stop insisting for matching of useless Horoscope.
