Bangalore: Congress govt dividing school children on caste, communal lines: BJP

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Nov 14: Opposition BJP has accused the ruling Congress government of dividing school-children on caste and communal lines by selectively organizing study tours for high school students belonging to backward classes and minority communities studying in Government high schools.

The State Government’s latest order issued on November 6 directing district authorities to organise the study tour under the programme, 'Karnataka Darshan.’ for students belonging to OBCs and minority communities was nothing but an attempt to win over the parents of the students ahead of the coming lok sabha polls.

About 9,000 students, 300 from each district, are proposed to be selected for the study tour, which would cost Rs 3.15 crore to the State exchequer.

Former Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister and BJP MLA S Suresh Kumar alleged that the Siddaramaiah government sowing seeds of caste and communalism among schoolchildren by identifying children on the basis of caste and community for study tours.

Addressing a news conference, the former minister wondered on what grounds the students from other castes and communities have been left out.

The BJP leader demanded immediate withdrawal of the order, which he termed “anti-social and highly objectionable.”

The order issued by the Tourism Department headed by Minister for Tourism R V Deshpande was against the spirit of equality and principles of the Constitution.

The ruling Congress party, which preaches secularism, should select students from all communities and castes for the tour if it really wanted to encourage students to go on study tours.

Money Raised From Modi Rally for Sardar Statue

Meanwhile, State BJP General Secretary and party spokesperson C T Ravi, said the money collected from the coming Sunday’s mammoth rally to be addressed by the party’s prime minister candidate Narendra Modi at Rs 10 per head would be donated for the construction of the ''statue of unity” to honour the country’s first home minister Sardar Vallabhbai Patel in Gujarat.

Ravi, who was also a former minister, said the party has decided to donate the collected amount for the construction of the Sardar Vallabhbai Patel statue in Gujarat, estimated to cost more than Rs 2500 crore.

He said lakhs of people were expected to attend the rally on Sunday at the Palace Grounds in the City.

Ravi asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop Minister of State for Information and Infrastructure Santosh Lad from the Council of Ministers to ensure smooth functioning of the Legislative Assembly proceedings in the Belgaum Session to be commenced from November 25.

He said the BJP wants the Belgaum session to discuss issues pertaining to north-Karnataka and it was dependent on the Chief Minister whether the proceedings to be a smooth affair or stormy.

The Chief Minister should drop Lad failing which the BJP would raise the issue in the Belgaum session, he said.

He alleged that development has come to a standstill in the State and no minister was coming to the Vidhana Soudha. Besides collapse of the law and order, the crime rate has increased in the state, he said.

Development has not come to a standstill. His brain has come to a standstill.

And because of such anti aspirants in the opposition, they want to put hurdles to the aspiring Congress party's efforts to re-lift Karnataka from the doldrums it was left by the earlier Govt. and march on with developments.
RSS\BJP is anti people, anti-State Development political party.

Dear Former Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister Suresh Kumar, Please tell some of your BJP and its affiliate Leaders not to hate anyone on the basis of religion,(minority) and castes (Lower)
Then broad minded people will surely support BJP, and Congress will pay for their divisive role.

Whom BJP hates, Congress will try to win over them! It is Politics!
BJP shouldn't follow what they hate!

I wish, there should be some other criteria other than caste & religion for availing government facilities.

I feel pity for Brahmins babies in India. From the day they born, they are deprived from all facilities just because their community vote is not required for any politicians. This is worse than "untouchability".

What have other religion done as they have been kept out of this scheme ? This is to pleas minority keeping in mind of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections!!! Siddaramayya do not forget you are in power not only by the votes of minority or one section of the community.

Valerian Rodrigues- You must learn what is social justice. If the government does not care about the oppressed in the society who will care? You and me? No way. If government did not care we would have SC, ST, Daliths, Minorities and the poor remain as they are forever. It hearts some of the well to do when something good is done to the oppressed, but it is pure selfishness to think so. We need everyone to be equal and to have proper happy life.

Rs.2,500- crores for a statue!! What a waste of money. Why Modi wants to follow Mayawati and erect statues? Better would be to build a hospital in the name of Sardar Patel which would benefit the poor and also generate some employment.

Yes. There is no need for a separate statue if the government had treated all freedom fighters equally. There are 12 Central Govt Schemes, 52 State Govt Schemes, 28 Sports/ Tournament / Trophies, 19 Stadiums, 5 airports / ports, 98 Universities / Colleges, 51 awards, 15 scholarship / fellowship, 15 national parks / sanctuaries / Museum, 39 Hospitals so on in the name of Nehru –Gandhi family only.

Yet cost of this statue is only 1.4% of 2G scam.

Mr Shetty, all the schemes that you mentioned immaterial of whom it is being named after, is being used by people in some way or the other... A statue of 2500crores cannot be used by the general public by any means. Recognizing freedom fighters can also be by having orphanages, old age homes, public toilets for women etc.... And we are already fed up with scams, don't wait for one more scam and then build a statue by quoting that it's just a percentage of some scam..

BJP knows they are dubbed communal in Indian politics and they can never get rid of that tag as long as Congress is in existence. So spread the lies and become secular. That is the BJP's game plan. By hook or crook they want power only to be kicked out by the voter. Are BJP wallon Please dissolve your party and join the parties like Congress SP, BSP etc. Otherwise you will be untouchable for ever.
