Kundapur, Nov 17: The police have confirmed that the death of a woman at Maravanthe beach two months ago was a planned murder. The police on Saturday November 16 arrested the accused in this regard.

Mangala Kharvi (36), an Agrigold agent, was found dead at Maravanthe beach on September 20. Satish Kharvi (25), a cousin of Mangala's husband, is the accused.

Investigation has also revealed that illicit relationship led to the murder. The gold ornaments and a bag that were snatched from Mangala are yet to be recovered.

Mangala was the wife of Raja Kharvi, a fishermen and resident of Gangolli. She went missing the night before her murder. Raja had gone on a fishing expedition when the incident took place.

On the previous day of the murder, the locals had seen her get down from the bus at Gangolli's Manganese road and go towards her home. The next day she was found dead at Maravanthe beach.

It is said that Mangala and Raja had no children. However, though due to Raja's medical condition the chance of them becoming parents was less, Mangala yearned for a child. Mangala then hit upon a plan and roped in her relative Satish Kharvi to father a child for her, for which Satish too agreed, it is learnt.

Even as an illicit relationship grew between Mangala and Satish, his marriage was fixed with another girl. However, Mangala refused to give him up. She began to blackmail him constantly, and unable to bear the mental torture, Satish allegedly plotted to murder her.

Their illicit affair had lasted for about seven or eight months. When Mangala's husband was out on fishing expeditions, they would go to Maravanthe beach at night 3-4 times a month without anyone's notice. Even after Satish's engagement about four months ago, Mangala did not want to stop going out with him. However, Satish did not reciprocate in the same way, which often led to fights.

On October 19, the two met in Kundapur from where they travelled to Udupi, where they prayed at a temple and spent their day together. At around 6.30 pm, they caught a bus at Shastri circle and got down at Trasi beach. They then went to a nearby temple after which they sat on the beach side. Meanwhile, an argument broke out between them and in a fit of rage, Satish allegedy strangled her to death with the help of her saree. He then threw her body and went home.

The post-mortem report confirmed that Mangala was murdered. After registering a murder case, police interrogated Satish Kharvi initially and released him. But when their suspicions became stronger, the police checked his mobile phone records. Satish then narrated the entire episode, and on checking CCTV images at Udupi and Maravanthe, his statements were found to be true.

Satish Kharvi was produced in the court on Saturday November 16. DySP C B Patil, circle inspector P M Diwakar, Gangolli sub-inspector Sampath Kumar and others were part of the investigation team.

Many people do not realize this type of relationship is devils work. We fall prey to devil/temptations. Devils keeps trap and looks for a chance, will not leave till he succeeds and gets the soul to hell. They could have got adopted child instead and today she would have been alive. Be careful before you fall in well. It is a story of sheep and jackal.RIP.

@Jesse, it is not simply an equation as you say for such alliances, it is multifactorial and based on the confluence of events at a particular point in time!! After all science says "Man is polygamous by nature"!!!

    Dear Jesse Bai.
I guess Rita Bai forgot English after going to Germany and you forgot knowledge after going to Ireland.
Even if a husband fulfill's his wife's duty 24x7 days and satisfy her physical body needs 24x7 days there are other reasons which makes them not bear a child.

"It is said that Mangala and Raja had no children. However, though due to Raja's medical condition the chance of them becoming parents was less, Mangala yearned for a child."
It is mentioned medical condition not a physical condition.

    Dear Rita Madam,
Above news is in English language. May be you read in German. There is no Raja's(the lady's legal husband)name mentioned in the sentence - "However, though due to Raja's medical condition the chance of them becoming parents was less, Mangala yearned for a child. Mangala then hit upon a plan and roped in her relative Satish Kharvi to father a child for her, for which Satish too agreed, it is learnt."

All this happens when a husband doesn't fulfill his duty. He must satisfy her physical body needs. When she needs him he goes for fishing.after comes home he is tired. These types of people who cannot spend the night with their wife should not marry.what do u say?

    No sympathy.

She lived sinful/cheating married life. Self invited problems.

The Man who took advantage has to be punished for playing such a immoral act in someones married life. A dirty game.

Eventhough she took a wrong step, killing her was cruel, it is not a matter of an illicit relationship, its pure murder,

    Manjuji..
    That's the different matter..
All women's desperate to have a 'baby' while looking society norms..
May be for that reason she might have taken a wrong step..
In our culture if once marriage happened..try to maintain at any cost and moreover do not want to burden much more to their parents.
It's like suggesting to all if robbery took place to install CCTV..
