Mangalore, Nov 17:
At least 5,000 youth belonging to five different organizations took part in the rally ‘Walk for Christ’ in the city on Sunday, November 17. The rally was flagged off in the premises of Milagres Church and culminated at Rosario Cathedral, followed by a grand Eucharistic celebration.

Bishop of Mangalore diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza handed over flags to the five different organizations to mark the beginning of the rally. The youth belonged to Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Young Christian Students (YCS), All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF), Jesus Youth and Youth United for Christ.

Addressing the participants, the Bishop said, “The youth should be filled with the spirit of faith. Moreover, the spirit should not end with the rally but must continue to spread the message of Christ in daily life.”

There were placards with messages like ‘Come… let us live for one another’, ‘Forgive and Forget’, ‘Come let us build a peaceful society’, ‘Say no to corruption’. The rally was led by a brass band.

This is one among the several programmes the diocese of Mangalore has undertaken to mark the Year of Faith. The Catholic Holy Church had declared 2012-13 as the year of the Faith.

In addition, the closing ceremony of the Year of Faith will be held on November 22, 23 and 24 at Nehru Maiden from 4 to 7:30 pm. The three-day programme will consist of preaching, praise and worship, adoration, internal healing and holy Eucharistic celebration. The famous preacher Fr Vinith of The Association of the Catholic Faithfull, Varanasi, Fr Joseph Edutu of Divine Retreat Centre, Kerala and Fr Cardoza and Fr Franklin will be part of the spiritual programme.

More than 25,000 Catholic detvotees from Mangalore and from the neighbouring diocese will take part in the programme. The convention will end on November 24 with the celebration of Holy Eucharistic Mass. The ‘Mega Magnificat 2013’ religious programme will be held on December 1, 2013 at Lourdes Central School Ground, Bejai at 5pm. This programme will be conducted by famous American Catholic jazz and hip hop singer Fr Stan Porthuna. About 7,000 people are expected to take part in the programme.

It is very sad to see so many disagree column ticked. It looks like people are either not pleased to see the Christians sharing about Christ and His peace and wish to live in harmony with all. OR they do not understand the English language.

Nice moment to watch, hope the objective was for a good cause and we have achieved it.

I have read the comments below from the readers....they were all good comments and nothing i could find bad, then why lots of people disagree with the comments, I would have happy if there was not disagreement at all as all prayed and wished good for the humanity.

You all prooved me correct again....DEMOCRACY LIES IN WRONG HANDS.

Dear Friends, living together is much better than hatred. I heard a saying that love gives life and grudge causes danger to ourselves....Better think only this only I can say....

God bless all who had participated in the procession and prayed for the humanity....May the heavenly father shower his choicest blessing amongst all of you.....

This is good to see this young generation giving their valuable time to faith & religious activities unlike the majority of youth today Wasting hours and hours to texting, Facebook, twitter which destroys the life of the youth.

Walk for Christ and Walk with the Poor - is the right slogan to be an Indian Christian in our contemporary times. Nice Photos and splendid Witness to Christian life. As the Year of Faith concludes - the life of faith would continue with the Light of Faith (Lumen Fidei).

The year of faith is a reminder of the miraculous power of faith, which does wonders.
Jesus performed miracles mainly based on the faith of people, though he is Almighty.
The beautiful story of the mustard seed by Jesus is a great encouragement to have faith.
Our youngsters are struggling to face the severe challenges of fast and dynamic life.
Rising unemployment is a worrisome crisis, which hinders the peace and development.
Jesus being the way, truth and life, with faith power, we can have a world of difference.
By faith we can hope to have a peaceful society, stable economy and clean environment.

I wish, I could be there to walk with you all. As a young man, stood up in the open market place to say that I am a follower of JESUS CHRIST in a convention, when I used to distribute Christian literature in the college, I got all the ridicule.
But, they turned like awards in life. STAND UP FOR JESUS-WALK AND TALK ABOUT JESUS, HE HAS GREATER BLESSINGS STORED FOR YOU ALL. I PRAY THAT THIS WILL BE BEGINNING OF A GREAT " REVOLUTION OF LOVE" IN MANGALORE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
