President Pranab confers NSS Best University Award on Mangalore varsity

Mangalore, Nov 19: President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday November 19 presented the prestigious Indira Gandhi National Service Scheme Best University Award, 2012-13 to Mangalore University, Karnataka at a function in Rashtrapati Bhavan here.

On the occasion of Indira Gandhi's 96th birth anniversary, Mukherjee also gave NSS Best Plus 2 Council Award for 2012-13 to Directorate of Higher Secondary Education, Thiruvananthpuram while Upcoming University Award was presented to Kumaun University, Nainital.

The awards are given to educational institutions, faculty and students for their contribution in various beneficial activities like planting of saplings, holding blood donation and pulse polio camps, and creating durable assets including helping in building of houses for the marginalised sections, for community benefit.

Seven Letters of Appreciation to NSS programme coordinators in various universities, ten awards to NSS programme officers and volunteer awards to 30 students from across the country were also given by Mukherjee on the occasion.

    Congratulations Mangalore University. We proud to be the part of all educational institutions of the university in general and particularly St. Aloysious College. Though My university is different Up to Pre-university education completed in the same college. Great news . Literacy is good and people are more educated in Mangalore let us keep it up for the future generation to blow up more like a lamp. Let us not make use of our education of bade deeds but for the better of the people and nation.

    Today, I am categorically proud to say that I am an Ex SAC student 1985-88. I truly cherish my fond memories of those college campass days with my Ex class =mates and Lecturers especially I will never forger Late. SIR Benet Pinto and B. S. Raman and for sure our kind and collest Pricipal Fr. Leo D'Sousa.


    Long live my SAC and Mangalore Unniversity. A million times I utter 'I AM PROUD TO BORN IN MANGALORE THE GOLDEN SOIL". I take this immense opportunity to thank my kindest parents. May God bless them more and more and through their prayers I will be undeniabely blessed too.
