Sullia, Nov 22: As suspicions of human sacrifice in the name of seeking hidden treasure in the forests here continue to grow, especially after the mysterious death of one-and-a-half-year-old Sharika, another strange incident has been reported that has further fuelled the curiosity of the locals.

A youth, who is said to be a relative and neighbour of Sharika's parents, and who used to pass by their house frequently, has also gone missing. What's more strange is that he is said to have been a part of a group that was hunting for the hidden treasure.

Missing youth

The youth was employed in Pallatadka in Harihar. He used to pass by the house where Sharika's parents stay and hence it was suspected that he had taken her away. Two others who were with him had been arrested on charges of killing 70-year-old Parameshwar Gowda and in connection to the treasure hunt.

The mystery may get resolved once the missing man is found by the police.

Kemar Swamiji urges people to fight against black magic

"Black magic is a result of the distorted behavior of a person whose mind is unstable. Nowadays, it has become a business. Hence, we should all fight against black magic," said Shree Esha Vittaldasa Swamiji of Kemar Sandeepani Sadanashram.

He was addressing reporters on Thursday November 21, after visiting the Charmatha area in Nalkuru where it is suspected that one-and-a-half-year-old Sharika, daughter of Mohandas and Bhavani was 'sacrificed' in black magic to retrieve hidden treasure.

The Swamiji elicitated the details about the incident from the family during his visit.

Speaking to people thereafter, Swamiji said in Shastra, there is no mention of human sacrifice but today it is being practised in the hope of retrieving treasure. Hence, all people should unite together and fight against this evil, he said.

"In this case, even though it is suspected that the baby was sacrificed for hidden treasure, I do not see people coming together. This should not continue," said Swamiji, asking police officials to investigate the matter thoroughly.

"The government should book people who indulge in human sacrifice under Goonda Act. Until you fight, we will support. Justice should be delivered where injustice takes place," he said.

The family members told Kemar Swamiji that the baby went missing on Nagara Panchami. The baby which was playing with her grandmother went missing later. A part of the baby’s body was detached and it was not decomposed like the rest of the body.

Considering the state in which the body was found, there is a strong suspicion that human sacrifice had taken place.

Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi, Durgadas Mallar, Padmanabh P R, head of Marakatha temple, gram panchayat member Vijay Kumar, Jyothi Premanand among others were present.

Children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward(Psalms127-3).
Once when Dalai Lama, was asked what surprised him most about humanity, he said:
    “Man.
Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future
he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

@Sadanand, the once agriculture oriented people were far more happy and contended and lived in peace and harmony though they had to face various physical hardships compared to the dangerous times we are in, a very high price to pay for the so called fast "haphazard" development!!

Today, you talk to anybody most of the times topic will be of rates of flats and rate per cents for land one fella outdoing the other!! Everybody has joined the rat race to amass more and more wealth at whatever cost!! Quality has been sacrificed to the hilt at the cost of quantity!!! Though this is a universal phenomenon feel very sad to see our place of birth degrading rapidly to the hilt in all aspects!!

I wonder how many law abiding citizens can afford to buy even a small apartment or land in and around a small city of Mangalore!!

    Child sacrifice:
An act where an innocent life is sacrificed too appease a God Or Goddess.
This normally arises in spirituals who feel god spoke to them .....also known medically as ghost voices striven from hallucination.
The act is condemned and termed Under black magic.....where monetary and medical BENEFIT is derived in return for a blood sacrifice .
Even an attempted is a crime !

True son of Mangalore who really has a courage to agree the short comings of Mangalore. Mangalore was a great place and now not sure where it is heading. In this picture I feel sorry to see the status of the parents, grandparents which reminds me how people honest and humble, poor in their own ways and true human beings the way honesty people lived in earlier days. Hope justice will prevail for these people and god keep them safe always. I feel very sorry to see the elderly women crying.

Syed Mohiudin,We all support the ban for blind beliefs like black magic. But do u know the list of items in the CM's agenda for ban. There are many beliefs which CM or his father also do not dare to touch or change.

We support the ban for black magic. But black magic is not only one of the item in the CM's list. There are 'beliefs' which are our backbones and if anyone trying to stop/change it, it would be very sad.

why CM is hurting us by creating all these dramas? why can't he ban all the religious beliefs?! (Actually why he should). Its just vote banking and people never understand. very sad.
