Kasargod, Nov 22: In a major theft, thieves decamped with gold worth over Rs 31 lac from the residence of a Mangalore businessman located near Nalka Juma Masjid, Perla here on Friday November 22.

The house belongs to K N Hameed, who hails from Mangalore.

It is said that the theft took place during the night, but the family came to know only in the morning. Hameed, his wife and mother were in the house but were unaware of the entry of the thieves.

The house has two floors. The balcony on the top floor does not have a door. It is said that the thieves entered the house through it and reached the ground floor, opened the cupboard and took away the jewellery in the cupboard. They took away the bike parked in the verandah with the bike key that was kept on the table. However, they did not take away the camera and mobile phone that was in the room.

It is learnt that the stolen jewellery belonged to Hameed's brothers who stay abroad. The gold ornaments stolen weighed 140 sovereigns worth around Rs 31.36 lac.

Hameed, his mother, wife and servants are staying in the house. When Hameed’s mother got up at 3 am to go to the toilet, she found the main door open and woke up Hameed. The bike was also missing. The family immediately informed their relatives, locals and the Badiadka police.

The police team led by Thomson Jose, DySP P Mohanchandran Nayar and circle inspector Balakrishnan conducted inspection.  Fingerprint experts and dog squad were also pressed into action.

What a negligence!A luxurious house with full Gold ornaments and upper floor no door is inviting thieves or like keeping Gold in front of the house to take away. But the question arises, really a outsider or only homeowner tried to mislead?since Gold belongs to relatives?is it possible to take away a bike without noise?camera and mobile is not taken?suspect, suspect. However to whoever Gold belongs is really hard earned Gold to loose very hard.

I would say ...." from a rich man's house to a poor mans house ". Sharing of wealth !? Gotten or begotten !? Will any sensible person keep 31 lakhs worth of gold in the house when there are Bank lockers ? Something fishy though !

The Income Tax Authorities should swoop down on this house.
