FIR in Delhi against Uttarakhand officer for rape

New Delhi, Nov 22 (IANS): A rape case was filed against an officer posted in the Uttarakhand government following a complaint lodged by a woman at a police station here, police said Friday.

A Zero-First Information Report was filed at Pandav Nagar police station in east Delhi after a woman from Uttarakhand, aged 26, lodged a complaint against an officer posted in Uttarakhand's home department.

As per Zero FIR, an FIR can be filed in any police station irrespective of the place of incident/jurisdiction and it can later be transferred to the appropriate police station.

The woman said the officer sexually assaulted her on the pretext of providing a government job, said police.

"The FIR will be transferred to the police station concerned in Uttarakhand," said an officer.

In August this year, a Zero FIR was lodged in Delhi's Kamla Market police station against godman Asaram Bapu for sexually assaulting a minor girl in Rajasthan.
