Bangalore: Siddu to hold information portfolio, infra allocated to S R Patil

Bangalore, Nov 23 (PTI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would hold additional charge of Information portfolio as Governor H R Bhardwaj today accepted the resignation of Santosh S Lad, who quit over allegations of illegal mining.

Infrastructure Development portfolio has been allocated to Minister for Planning, IT, BT and Science and Technology, S R Patil on the advice of the Chief Minister, according to a Raj Bhavan communique today.

Lad, who was Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Information and Infrastructure Development, submitted his resignation late last eventing to the Chief Minister, who forwarded it to the Governor for acceptance.

38-year-old Lad, a three-time MLA, was facing heat over allegations of illegal mining for the past three months.

Ahead of winter session of the state legislature, commencing on Monday, the Chief Minister, who had also been conveyed by the Governor H R Bhardwaj to take action against him, asked Lad to put in his papers.

The resignation was also aimed at disarming opposition JDS and BJP, which were gearing up to put the Government on the mat by keeping the spotlight on Lad.

The iron ore mining company in which Lad is partner is linked to another firm owned by his kith and kin which allegedly indulged in illegal mining. Lad had repeatedly denied that his company was engaged in illegal mining.

Lad is a Marathi Man. So, naturally he helped his Marathi Brothers of Belgaum. We should appreciate his Marathi Pride, and learn to love our mother tongue Kannada too.

Jossey, dont worry you are not at a disadvantage. What matters is the substance of what one writes and not the language in which one writes it in.

Rubbish comments will still be rubbish whichever language they are written in.

In fact by writing in different languages such commentators expose their rubbish comments to many more readers.

Most of the INC rules states do not have Lokpal including center. So why are pointing along to Modi...Also please note that current Karnataka lokayuktha is nominated by BJP. Bottom line, with or without lokayuktha corruption is rampant everywhere. So how does it matter?

Instead of loading with the additional burden to CM,better to assign these portfolios to new young faces since we have competent legislators in the Congress party.Hope,CM will think over this matter and take a suitable step to involve new faces.Thanq.

Now the case should be handed over
to CBI.And Mr.Lad should be arrested.
Because there is every chance that he may tamper the evidence
because his own party is in power
in centre as well as state.
