John .. Good suggestion, but I wonder who will go for saving a few pennies here and there. After all most of the passengers are interested in returning to their homes ASAP. Else, it is worth the savings if you are not in urgency. The choice is theirs ! ! !

We as public who condemn AIE must use some other airline or different route. Many have suggested this in the past. I myself stopped flying directly to Mangalore, instead I fly via Mumbai. No doubt there is little in-convenience. Also bus service to Mangalore is very luxurious and we can save up to 3-4 thousand rupees minimum per one way ticket compared to direct fare to Mangalore. Think about it.

I do not understand the fraustation of the reader's why they are against Air India Express. It is low cost, I have travelled to Mumbai many times paying below 600 Qrs. The thing is you have to plan your Journey well in advance and book your ticket. I am not saying its a luxury flight, bit congested but O.k., I know most of the Air hostesses and I dont feel them annoying, but I do feel some passenger's annoying for calling the attention of the Air hostesses for silly reason's. I have one thing to say to the people who blame it, if you dont like it dont fly on it, if you fly dont blame it. You will get only what you pay for. If it was some other Air line every one's trap will be shut.

Jawar..you just travel from Dubai to Mangalore and see the difference. For Bombay you have more options and hence Air India Express might be charging you less. But Mangalore...it's almost monopoly and loot the passengers. Off peak season the charges are AED 1000 to 1300 and during peak season airfare shoots to AED 2000. Do you call this as low cost carrier? Recently I tried Jet Airways while returning and one way fare was AED 515 and at the same time Air India Express was charging AED 485. I had to pay AED 30 extra for Jet. But the quality of service, food, comfortability while travelling is too good in Jet Airways.

@Mr. Jawar, we Indians are always against AI Express only bcoz it is our natioanl flight and we raise our voice against them hoping that they will improve. This is the only reason if ppl like you are supporting AI Express for its present situation you are putting ppl life into risk. you will understand the situation if the flight makes emergency landing or the door opens when you are on board then tell JAI AI Express....

there may not be any Emergency, there were just 44 passengers and to save costs they may have landed in Mumbai and send the passenger on a domestic flight to Mangalore. its as simple as that.

While I do not wish to condone AI management for its present doings or failings, I would remind that being a PUBLIC Sector Undertaking it is for the PUBLIC to pressurize the govt to privatise the carrier the govt and free it from babudom control, which should have happened a long time ago. Secondly, travellers from the Gulf would do well to remember that during the Gulf wars it was the same Air India, that flew non-stop sorties to rescue Indian nationals and fly them out safely. The then AI staff worked round the clock tirelessly in unfamiliar airports under trying circumstances, for their fellow countrymen. Unfortunately, public memory is short.

All other low budget airlines purchase new aero planes, only AI Express is using old/secondhand planes.
And their Jet engines have very low pay load so they reduce luggage capacity to 20Kg per passenger! They are not low cost but low facility airline with more profit making than others.

    DEAR DAIJI EDITOR,
PLEASE NOTE THAT AS YOU MENTIONED, AI EXPRESS IS LOW COST ARM OF THE NATIONAL FLAG CARRIER IS WRONG CONCEPT. IT IS ONE OF THE EXPENSIVE CARRIER OR CAN SAY EQUAL TO OTHER CARRIERS COST. CAN MAKE A SURVEY ON THIS REGARD.

I MY SELF TRAVELLED/USED AI EXPRESS NEAR 6-7 YEARS CONTINEUOUSLY. YOU CAN SEE THE PRICE/TARIFF LIST OF AI EXPRESS AND COMPARE WITH OTHER CARRIERS AND CAN SEE ALSO THE FREQUENCY OF PRICE CHANGING. EVERY DAY/EVERY HOUR THE PRICE IS GOING UP. WE CAN CALL THIS AS CHEAPER AIR CRAFT?

You are right. Air India Express is a low cost carrier only in terms of service and facilities. The planes are very old...always risky to travel. Seats are very hard and uncomfortable to sit. But fares charged are equivalent to other airlines. So, it is wrong to call Air India Express as Budget Airlines or low cost carrier. Also, they loot royally for excess baggage.

The AI aircrafts are over used and there is absolutely no time to service them. Even the seats have lost its sponge and we can feel the steel foundation. Even KSRTC buses seem better. Shashi Tharoor said it right by calling it a " cattle Carrier ". Two days ago an AI Jumbo aircraft door opened in mid air and had to make an emergency landing in Jedda, Saudi Arabia.

Why technical fault develops in Air India Express flights only, it should be investigated. It is a good news that all the passengers are safe. Air India Express days are over now.
