Mangalore, Apr 13: BJP and Bajrang Dal are directly responsible for closing down the slaughter house at Kudroli for an indefinite period citing danger to the environment, said the district unit of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI).

Stating this in a press release, DYFI district secretary Ashok Konchady said that Bajrang Dal took over the contract of slaughter house with a single purpose of stirring communal feelings in the district.  "Now by closing the slaughter house, they have denied the majority people of the district their basic right of eating beef.  They had tried to close down the abattoir earlier too citing many reasons.  But they could not.  But now with the help of BJP which is ruling the state, they have managed to influence Karnataka Pollution Control Board to give a verdict against the running of abattoir," said Ashok.

He added that if the chief minister remains still silent about this development, DYFI would stage protest in the district and would fight till the abattoir is re-opened.

In another development Mangalore City Indian Union Muslim League president Haji Mohammad Sadik in a press release has said that the main purpose of closing down the slaughter house is to curtail the financial activities of the minority section of the society.
