Ajman, Nov 26: “Enjoy what you do to feel great about what you achieve” Prof Ágoston Szél, rector of Semmelweis University, Budapest Hungary, advised the students of GMU while delivering a lecture on “Hybridomas to Dual Cones, from Student to a Rector”.
Gulf Medical University, Ajman hosted Prof Ágoston Szél, who delivered an inspirational lecture as part of Heroes of Healthcare Lecture Series on November 24.
The lecture was attended by Thumbay Moideen, the founder president, Board of Governors-GMU, prof Gita Ashok Raj, Provost of GMU, prof K R Shetty, renowned Neurologist from Mangalore, India, University Deans and Deans of constituent colleges, faculty and students of GMU. Over 200 participants attended the lecture.
‘A real scientist is the one who is seeing what everyone has already seen, but goes further to see what others don’t see’, said Prof. Szél. He enumerated his experiences and his journey as a scientist and as a teacher during his career spanning over four decades. He also made a presentation about his research which was appreciated by the faculty and students alike.
Humility and hard work stand as special traits of an achiever according to Prof Szél, who despite his illustrious career and achievements in research still claims to be a simple worker in the field of medicine.
Thumbay Moideen, founder president Board of Governors GMU presented the Heroes of Healthcare memento to Prof Ágoston Szél while prof Gita Ashok Raj, provost GMU presented a Certificate of Achievement.
Prof Ágoston Szél later was briefed about the university activities and taken on a tour of the campus. He was highly impressed with the newly established Center for Biomedical research & Innovation at GMU.
He had extensive meetings with the provost and academic leaders of constituent colleges of GMU. They have discussed bilateral academic collaboration between two institutions in the years to come. Semmelweis University Hungary is offering summer training program to medical, dental, pharmacy and physiotherapy students.
