Ajman: Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi gets Lifetime Achievement Award at GMU event

Ajman, Nov 28: Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, member of the Supreme Council UAE and Ruler of Ajman conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award on Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi, chancellor and chairman of Yenepoya Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, India, in the presence of Thumbay Moideen, founder president, board of governors, Gulf Medical University Ajman.

The award was presented in recognition of his invaluable contributions in the fields of medical education and healthcare over the years, during a grand ceremony organized by Gulf Medical University, Ajman, to mark the 10th graduation ceremony. The ceremony was graced by Sheikh Dr Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, chairman, Ruler’s Court Ajman, B Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen, chairman, BA Group, India, and Dr Amin Al Amiri, assistant under secretary for medical practice and license (CEO), ministry of health amongst other dignitaries from diplomatic missions and academic institutions from various countries.

Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi thanked for giving the award and expressed his happiness to Thumbay Moideen on the occasion.

Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi is one of the most eminent educationist and entrepreneur in Karnataka, India. Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi is the chairman of Yenepoya Group. The Yenepoya Group was started in 1940 by his father Yenepoya Moideen Kunhi, a great visionary and entrepreneur, who had a humble beginning and today nearly seven decades later, the Yenepoya Group, has grown meteorically covering a vast sphere of business interests and diverse social service ventures and providing both direct and indirect employment to over 3000 people.

Among several other portfolios, Y Abdulla Kunhi holds the office chairman of Yenepoya Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Pvt Ltd, and chairman of Islamic Academy of Education (R) a charitable trust and backbone of Yenepoya Medical College, Yenepoya Dental College and Yenepoya Institute of Nursing Sciences.

He also holds the offices of the vice-president of Badria Educational Institution, vice-chairman of the Islamic Trust and trustee of P A Educational Trust. He is also the ex-director of Air India Ltd, and Indian Airlines Ltd.

Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi is a recipient of the coveted Karnataka Rajyotsava Award 1992 for yeomen service rendered in the fields of industry, education and social service.

Yenepoya Moideen Kunhi Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust renders financial and material help to the down trodden and less fortunate sections of the community for education purposes, rehabilitation of orphans and disabled, conducting marriages etc. The trust also runs a charitable 1000 bed hospital which provides health care services free of cost to the poor and deprived sections of the society.

The saga continues for a person who has striven hard to achieve his goals. It can be said success is never a destination and always a journey.
