Dubai : Sherigar's 'Dhamaka' generates Rs 13 lac for charity

Media Release

Dubai/Mangalore, Dec 1: Dubai’s well-known entrepreneur from Mangalore and an established singer himself, Harish Sherigar donated Rs 13 lac to 3 different causes from the proceeds of his much-appreciated superhit comedy and musical show Dhoom Dhamaka 2013, held on November 15 at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School, Dubai.

Harish Sherigar thanked all the sponsors, well wishers, each and every one who attended the show. More than 1400 people had witnessed the spectacular Dhoom Damaka – 2013 show. The show was presented by ACME Building Materials, Dubai. The main sponsor was Farlin Group, followed by United Agencies, Transtec General Trading, Global Timber co and many more.

Rs 7 lacs for Rashid Centre for Disabled:

A part of the proceeds, Rs 7 lac (Dhs 45,000) from the charity show Dhoom Damaka – 2013 was contributed to Rashid Centre for Disabled, Dubai guided by the vision of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nayan.

The Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre is a humanitarian organization, which provides quality education and therapy services to children with special needs.

Inaugurated in 1994, the centre aims to ensure that international standards of excellence in education and therapy are maintained at every level. The centre is unique in the Emirates for providing a holistic multi disciplinary approach to special needs residing in the UAE, and to develop awareness and an understanding of disability issues in the Gulf Community.

Rs 3 lac contributed to Snehalaya Charitable Trust:

On Friday November 29 Harish Sherigar and his wife contributed an amount of Rs 3 lac to Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Mangalore. Snehalaya is a story of a man who has singlehandedly brought about a qualitative change in the lives of the destitute of Mangalore simply because he listened to the prompting of his heart.

The hero of the story is Joseph Crasta, a simple man with a humble background, who has dedicated himself to serve the poor in ‘Snehalaya’ – an orphanage that has come into existence under the banner as Snehalaya charitable catering selflessly to the needs of mentally ill and destitute.

On Friday Harish Sherigar handed over the cheque to Joseph Crasta.

Well-known architect Sanath Shetty, Abdul Rauf of Vishwas Builders, Dhanajay and Sathish Kapikad were present.

House for a poor family:

Harish Sherigar's charitable work is well known in the coastal district. He has also contributed a lot his own community for education, social activities etc. Now, in additional to this, an amount of Rs 3 lac was utilized towards the construction of a home of 700 sq ft for a Devadiga family. The head of the family is Rukmayya Devadiga. He, his wife and 3 children were undergoing lot of hardship and were yearning for the basic need of shelter.  Almost 80% of the construction of the house is done and it is scheduled for completion by the end of December 2013.

Harish Sherigar personally visited the place along with his wife Sharmila Sherigar and handed over the key of the house to Rukmayya Devadiga and Umavathi.

God Bless Harish Sherigar. Its quite a humane gesture.

In these days, many celebrities make ‘big big’ promises of help to the less fortunate folks but these promises are seldom kept – Simply forgotten!. But Harish has shown the world that ‘promises’ must be honoured ASAP!

AS earlier announced Dhoom Dhamaka’s proceeds are distributed as charity for the noble cause. What’s more noteworthy is the donation of Dhs 45,000 to ‘Rashid Centre for Disabled’ Dubai which clearly indicates Sherigar’s helping hand that transcends boundaries & race.

KEEP IT UP HARISH & SHARMILA.....
