Kundapur: Rain exposes poor quality of Mini Vidhana Soudha construction

Kundapur, Dec 1: Call it Kundapur’s bad luck or the indifference of people representatives. The quality of construction undertaken by the administration in Kundapur in their buildings has proved to be of very poor quality. The Mini Vidhana Soudha in the heart of the Kundapur, being built by the public works department is an example. The rain that fell on Tuesday November 26 exposed the poor quality of construction when rain water leaked through the roof and the walls developed cracks in no time.

The Mini Vidhana Soudha is being built at a cost of Rs 3.15 crore to enable smooth functioning of taluk office, sub registrar office and revenue department. The foundation stone for the building was laid in January 2011 and it was scheduled to be ready for inauguration on February 28, 2013, but the work is yet to be completed.

The building which continues changing its shape every now and then has consumed all the amount sanctioned for the construction and was waiting for an additional Rs 1.66 crore. The exposure of its poor quality now in the final stages has created anguish.

Its ground floor has an area of 1,491.71 square meters and the first floor 578.29 square meters and all the walls have cracks on them.

The work of RCC pillar and slab, lateritic stone walls and ceramic tiles, though of inferior quality has been completed. The locals believe that it will take at least another year for completion. The wooden doors also are of poor quality and the holes in them have been closed with plaster.

The locals expressed fears that there might be a possibility that the structure built with tax payers' hard earned money may collapse due to the indifference of the officials and elected representatives, causing anger and regret among the people.

    Dear Readers,
We cannot expect any quality development work from any of the existing political parties in India & that too from Karnataka Politicians.Look at our roads, highways & bridges built by Britishers. Some of them have been washed away year after year due to the poor maintenance work by our present Corrupt Politicians & third grade Contractors.Look at the Shiradi Ghat. This Ghat is gone to dogs, but our Road transport & highways minister is not at all bothered to start the repair work, on priority basis. He is busy in Foundation stone laying ceremonies & inaugural functions forgetting his main responsibilities.

These officials r always blaming heavy rains as if they r ignorant of rain every year. They r incapable of giving a permanent solution, why?.Because they want to make money every year awarding the work to third grade Contractors as if we do not have reputed honest Contractors like L&T who refuse to give kick backs. The only solution has now left with us is to throw out the entire Corrupt Politicians during the forthcoming elections.

    Dear Mr. K. S. Mayya, Mangalore/Bangalore,
First of all Kundapur M.L.A., was re-elected on independent and he received majority votes in a democratic process in a democratic country.
The doubt is he might have utilized this degraded building money to bribe the voters just as in Puttur, Mahalingeshwara temple they offered 1000 rupees notes only to poor worshippers for voting bjp during first bjp Karnataka to came to power. The BJP entered ruling by default through the power of Iron-ore money.

I think you too dream Modi /at the age Mudhi/old man Modi becoming President without becoming Prime Minister?!
Never mind we will depute to repair the mini soudha from the less corrupt congress to wash the holy-sins of BJP (because bjp always does holy-sins/blunder). Without planning and determining the works will be like this Mini Soudha. BJP wanted to show to the public see we have accomplished within a short period which congress hasn’t done in 5 years. We are seeing this kind of BJP’s NDA rule earlier in five years. In Mangalore the concreting of roads without any plans. Now frequently digging everywhere. BJP is just a show to the public in the mouth and the job accomplishments are:
    Hollow-shallow.
    Koyee kuch Boulo.
    The bjp’s are Wallow.
    Finally in the streets Chalo

If Mini Vidhana Soudha's position is like this then think about our roads... Each and everyone in India are corrupt.....they want to make easy money?????? If they are cheating the cheaters(political people) than think about ordinary people.

All the Government projects are bound to be of Poor quality because 60% of the funds allotted for the project go in private pockets and only 40% is spent for real construction. Then how can such construction be of good quality ? We cannot expect the contractor to spend from his pocket and maintain quality.
All the politicians and Engineers are responsible for the corruption and low quality of work.

    Dear Mr. Gonsalves,
Your chorus is becoming highly monotonous, as monotonous as MS Subbulaxmi's venkateshwara suprabatha on FM here in Bangalore. Blame everything under the sun on the BJP or if it is morning on MSS rules. However, herein there is one saving grace if BJP is indeed to be blamed, then this minisoudha was conceived and built in record time. Normally such exercises takes more than a full term of a government in office. BJP ruled only one term. Congis and JDs ruled the remaining time since independence. Why not depute the holy Congis now to repair. We all know, how long that will take....may be Rahul Gandhi will finally mature and become PM, and by then Modi might be enjoying retirement life probably by becoming president of India. FYI...Kundapur re-elected one independent candidate who was denied a BJP ticket if I remember it right.

There is nothing to repair. It has to be demolished and re-built.
That BJP Contractor should be taken to task and made to refund the entire amount.
What were the BJP Govt. Engineers were doing? are they not responsible to check\supervise the work that was going on?

Rich within five years which has taken 60 years for others to get that rich.
    See the difference in "CHORI"?

Check with Contractors what was the exact amount spent for constructing Mini Vidhana Soudha.

Looking at constructing site it is around 1.0 to 1.5 crores only....
