Mangalore: Duo tries to molest girl, caught by locals

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Dec 2: Two youths were on Sunday December 1 night arrested for allegedly trying to molest a girl. The incident took place near St Agnes College.

The arrested are Jackson and Denver, residents of Capitanio.

It is said that the girl, said to be working for a city-based media, was walking back to her hostel after work when the duo came in a bike and allegedly tried to molest her.

The girl began to scream for help, at which the locals began to gather. The people then caught hold of the accused and handed them over to the police.

A case has been registered in Kadri police station.

Respecting everyone who has commented here in this article i would like to comment on this incident.
I have seen this two boys growing in front of me , as well as i know their family background very well.Absolutely i have no idea what happened for these boys at that moment to behave in such a manner with that girl. Indeed they are from very good family back ground, their parents life has been devasted to such a extent and the pain they are going through
after this incident which these two boys cant even imagine of. Having said so im not defending or protecting for the offense which these duo have committed.
They have no criminal record in the past as well has no single incident which has hurt anyone in the neighborhood and locality.

Im speechless and wondering how they will choose their career in life from now onwards.

    @Pinky and @Henry Misquith,

When we talk about western culture, it not only the way one dresses. it about how people think. Indians who a quick to judge, show their narrow mindedness. I am sure, people who are talking about the positiveness of western culture dont walk bare naked on the streets, so u can rest assured! they are just talking about women being treated as humans and not be brutalised!!

Molestation has happened in our country, dont try to blame someone else! People who molest/rape are sick headed.. it neednt be taught! Kamasutra originated in India, so the westerners cant say Indians taught them how to have sex?

Pinki, Speaking about indian culture, people here still think women should take a back seat. People rape/molest when they perceive women as not as humans, they think them as a objects of pleasure. It has nothing to do with western culture! Even a Woman in fully clad saree can be raped.

If someone is ill-treated or abused in public, we cannot wait for Police to arrive and take action but first aid (treatment) by the public should be justified.

Moral police treatment is entirely out of the question because they trespass in someones private life and misuse their power simply in the name of protecting our culture. They do not have the right to do so.

If molesters reach police hands before being given treatment by the public, they feel safe in the custody and chances are there to repeat the crime.

Its simple...First aid should be given without seeing which community he belongs to but what he did..If you biased it should be calling'moral police'

If the moral police & the rogue belong to the same community it won't create tension in society instead it will help to curb the evil acts.

Most of the time,we support the criminal if he/they are from our own community and oppose it if not..

    We should wake up still..

The difference is Moral Police themselves are moral less who have criminal cases against them and molest innocent girls as was in Morning mist incident. The public should thrash and teach them Moral first.

Mr.Peter Pereira . This is such a convenient argument and very hypocritical too. When public take law into hands and start beating people on the road side it is nothing less than moral policing. Public should prevent any untoward incident from happening and submit the guilty to police and not beat him or her until they vent their anger. It does a major disservice to law and society

Victim did the right thing. If such an incident had happened in Mumbai, the duos would have required to be carried in the stretcher to the hospital first then for police treatment. Well done the public.

people who blame western culture take a min and understand that at US or UK, girls can walk freely even wearing skimpiest clothes and the men there do not look at girls in the same way like how it is done in India.
Girls are free to walk there and dont have to worry of people staring at them.
its much safe there when compared to bieng here.

we often complain of western culture, a girl may get spoilt there but it will in her own will not by force.

The cases of molestation & rape have become very common these days. The time is likely to come that people will avoid reading / hearing such news. This virus of social evil has spread in the society. The moral values have gone down. People have forgotten our rich traditions & customs. The means of entertainment & communication have increased drastically. The western culture has already entered India. Poor parents have lost control over their children. The ethics & moral values are not taught in the schools /colleges. This social evil has to be dealt with iron hands. The harsh & urgent punishment must be given to both accused, Jackson (Michael) & Denver (JANWAR)

Western culture?? How good was the indian culture? Sathi, child marriage, dowry killed millions of women in different manners, like burning to death, abortion, thrown into fire, sexual slave and discriminated after husband's death as m**de!Western culture does not teach or practice that. Rape is a crime and punishable in western countries.
