Mangalore, Dec 2: Konkani theatre on Sunday December 1 lovers got a rare opportunity to witness a top class classical Konkani play 'Madtir Bhagat Singh' at Kalaangann. This was the 10th production of Kalaakul, Konkani's lone theatre repertory, and the 144th monthly theatre presented by Mandd Sobhann.

The historical drama was written by Arun Raj Rodrigues based on the life of martyr Bhagat Singh who gave a new dimension to India's freedom struggle with his revolutionary movement. His approach for the independence was far different from Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi who was another national leader at that time. Bhagat was hanged at the young age of 23. SIxteen years after his death India got independence.

This play was exceptionally directed by Sathish, Neenasam. Christopher DSouza Neenasam was the assistant director. Lead role of Bhagat was ably performed by Arun Tauro and supported by Melwyn Pais (Sukhdev), Rivin Crasta (Raj Guru) Sandeep Tellis (Chandrashekar Azad), Maria Joyce DSouza, Preeetham Rodrigues, Neeshma Dsouza, Venissa Dcunha, Malcon Rego and Hanley Coelho.

Rohan Lobo enhanced the impact of the play with apt music arrangement. The superb art work recreated the aura of Bhagat Singh's time and the lights and sounds by Angels Padil complimented the play well. The tunes and songs by Eric Ozario added extra charm to the play.

The audience were not only entertained thoroughly by the performances but took home a meaningful message too.
