Mangalore, Dec 3: The edge of a road beside an open drain at Kottara Chowki has collapsed, thus blocking the drain flow with stones.

The drain has been filled with several pieces of trash like plastic, bottles, scrap etc. People walk by this narrow path on a daily basis, but now the path has has narrowed down even further due to the collapse. This in turn has poses a danger to the pedestrians especially during the night.

The officials at MCC have not taken any initiative to repair the drain nor to clean it up. The collapsed wall in the drain halts water flow resulting in foul smell.

"A year ago two women accidentally slipped into the drain. Fortunately a few people nearby were quickly able to save them," said Sunder Shetty a shopkeeper in the area.

When area corporator Nagaveni was questioned about this issue she replied, “It has not come to my notice. The problem will soon be solved after discussing with the MCC."

Hussain, a tempo driver said, “It also poses a danger for vehicles because when they give way for other vehicles to move ahead, they may slip into this drain. MCC should look into this matter as soon as possible."

It was also noticed that there were piles of mud accumulated on the other side of the road close to the divider.

hi... looks more comments were on BJP vs Congress. Looks very stupid. Actually who ever in the rule, it's their duty. Let's not play the blame game. Daiji did it's job reflecting there is an issue area to be addressed. Now, officials can take necessary steps to fix this. It's not a major multi crore project to plan with. Just take remedial action and also you can plan for a long term solution. Residents taking action.... I am ok with the idea. But if we start doing it the officials and officers will go for a deeper sleep from their current sleep. Tomorrow one more problem, they will say residents will take care. If residents doesn't take any action..

They may ask why the hell residents are not taking any action as if it's residents' duty to fix all these issues... Why the hell we pay so much Tax yaar. It's done so perfectly, right from the salary on the same day the tax is deducted. This amount is to be returned back with such good services, maintenance and all. So, let's not discuss that. Let the respective officials take this up on top priority and do the needful. Actually it's their duty to find out or look for such issues in their vicinity. But too far to imagine that. However Daiji has brought to your notice and now you just need to upon

We Indians are ,unfortunately I must tell not so good in keeping our circumstances clean. And the municipality also is not a exception. But we are the first once to point out to say it is not my Job.Three years ago I travelled to Goa with Konkan Train.through the window I could see along the whole Train ways on both sides a garbage has collected which was thrown away from passengers. In Train itself I saw a woman to "Wash"her drinking glass poured some water from her flask and through under other passenger's feet instead throwing outside .Thats our manners.Even there is a waste box in Train is just thrown out. Here Minister Khadar should take immediate Action to this cleanliness and Hygiene conditions of roads.Only night visits to hospitals with the photographer is not enough. Here is Action should be taken immediately.otherwise Mangalore will sink in drain water and rates.

Mangalore is very much developed, especially when our BJP was in State and corporation ruling party.

The engineers, contractors and the person who sanctioned the bill need to put in jail.

    Dear friends,
Why we always blame the government or fight each other.
Let us ask ourself what is our contribution in keeping our city clean. For example after eating a small chocolate where we throw the wrapper. I have noticed many people after eating any packed food, theY will just dispose the plastic packet on the road side. And now so called the citizens of mangalore city why you blame the municipality. The actual cleanliness starts at home. So my friends please let us all join together like brother and sister to keep our city clean as we all want to keep our home.

After history and economics lessons,Modi supporters will now give GK lessons!

The following was posted in Daijiworld on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
Google it and read the whole article yourself!

"The work on 37.4 kms road from Suratkal to B C Road had begun in November 2007 and was to be completed by December 2008. But due to court cases and the lackadaisical approach of the city corporation and MESCOM and numerous court cases for land acquisition acted as impediments delaying the project enormously.

Even the Suratkal flyover which has become operational just two days ago was delayed due to court cases pertaining to the two buildings. Even the Kulur flyover faced similar situation as the flyover was delayed due to the myopic vision of the city corporation which dithered to shift the utility works, engrossed as they were in their own squabbles. They were utterly adamantine and cared a fig to the numerous requests of NHAI authorities to shift the utilities. Finally it was thrown open for the public last month thus bringing to an end the congestion on that road."

Why dont you say the same about nagesh nayak, Dinesh Poojary and Jeevan?
Coming back to this issue, irrespective of whoever is responsible for the construction, ultimately one innocent citizen from our city will fall into it and then everyone will wake up. Daiji is just trying to wake up the sleeping corporation officials. So lets all join hands.

Those poor quality flyovers in Mangalore were built during BJP rule.
Work was stalled so many time that it took nearly 5 years to complete.
Obviously the corrupt BJP ministers were demanding more commission and hence the delay.
It was completed in record time right before the elections if you remember.
That was just to fool the public.
But the public was fed up with corruption and BJP lost the elections!

Two years back for some reasons I had visited the place and I was shocked to see the gutter water that is filthy, stinking and stagnant. It is the ideal place for breeding mosquitoes that can cause death. I call it the death gutter. Many of my friends who stayed there have told me that they used regularly fall sick. The municipality can drain out the water easily or even provide space for the water to flow. Even the citizen around can form a group and make arrangements to clean that gutter. Government is not here for its citizens as we are only a piece of voter slip once in 5 years. So time to think either residents around start cleaning the mess or wait for the municipality to do it which will never come for centuries together.
