Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur

Puttur, Dec 3: Ramesh Naik, convicted of killing his two children, his mother-in-law and sister-in-law back in 2010 has been awarded death sentence by the fifth additional sessions court.

The verdict was pronounced on Tuesday December 3. Judge T J Shivashakare Gowda termed the case as the 'rarest of the rare' and said that the accused deserved no leniency.

Ramesh Naik, a resident of Panaje Ardhmule here was convicted on November 26 for the four murders he had committed in June 2010.

At the time, Ramesh was a manager at a nationalised bank in Sholapur, Maharasthra, while his wife Sundari worked in a bank in Mangalore.

On June 14, 2010, Naik had been to Tumkur where he had rented house. During his visit, he fought with his mother-in-law Saraswati and sister-in-law Savita and strangled them to death. Their bodies were later found in the water tank of the house. Naik had taken care of his sister-in-law for several years in her education and even securing a job for her in Bangalore. He also had an affair with Savita, but when he came to know that she had fallen in love with another man from a different community, he flew into a rage and killed her and her mother.

After killing them, Naik came to Mangalore and while his wife Sundari was away at work, he took his children Mohan Raj and Krithika to his native Panaje and drowned them in a pond.

When police nabbed him on June 16, 2010 from a lodge in Puttur, he was contemplating suicide.

His wife Sundari and relatives were present in the court when the judgement was pronounced. K Shivaprasad Alva was the public prosecutor.

I am sure this crooked man will appeal in the High Court, then in the Supreme Court and finally mercy petition to the President too. But we need Fast Track Court so that all his grievances should be heard peacefully but the death penalty should be carried out with minimum time so that he should not get public sympathy and few NGO starts campaigning against his death penalty verdict too. For this man enjoying with his sister-in-law is ok but when she made up her mind to marry someone from different community is not ok!!!

This is a very good example of a good judgment people must not be allowed with light punishment after committing murder.
