Kundapur, Dec 6: The Udupi Lokayukta officials on Friday December 6 swooped down on the district's prime port at Gangolli here and unearthed unaccounted cash worth thousands of rupees.

Assistant port officer Kishore Mada of Mangalore was arrested in this regard and produced in court.

Complaints regarding charging ten times more than the stipulated fee for boat licence renewals were heard here over the last few years. The Lokayukta officials who gathered the information on the allegation, kept a close watch on the functions at the department for the last ten days. Once the information was confirmed, they conducted the raid on Friday, December 6.

On Friday too, one boat owner paid him Rs 45,000 and another owner Rs 10,000.

During the raid, the Lokayukta officials found amount exceeding Rs 80,000 in the office, out of which, Rs 39,700 was unaccounted for.

The Lokayukta officials seized the illegal money and the documents, and arrested Mada and produced him before the district additional magistrate. He was sent to judicial custody.

Udupi Lokayukta DySP Umesh Shet, inspector Mohan Kottar and other officials were part of the raid operation.

From several years, boat owners have been repeatedly expressing anguish over collection of exorbitant licence renewal fee. Having no other go and unable to confront the officer, the owners were forced to pay the fee demanded by him. The boat owners on Friday welcomed the raid conducted by the Lokayukta.

This is done by political background!Mr.Mada has been transferred to gangolli with promotion fron malpe before 3months and article says it is going on from several years! So it is proved Mr.Mada is not a culprit! Mr.Mada is a sincere n best officer the govt seen! And his higher authority itself says that he is the best officer! And malpe ppl knows how Mr.Mada was! And as per the article it was going on from several years please enquire the person who was in that post before 3months! So you can find a a real culprit over there! And please enquire the group of ppl who complained lokayuktha on whom the complaint was actually given!

And the port he worked before knows how Mr.Mada was! And he was and he is and he will be the best and a sincere officer of the govt! And please find the real culprit unless making a blame over Mr.Mada! Mr.Mada has gained lots of name in his department so it's a pre planned game ! And it might be the chance of some boat ppl who wanted to make illegal things but Mr.Mada had opposed about this which was totally illegal to govt! So this might b the reason to make him the culprit! some one has planned n done this To make Mr.Mada's name n fame down of being a best and sincere officer!

Corruption prevails in each and every Govt. offices. Our Govt, MPs, MLAs and ministers all are corrupt. Only difference is Govt officers make money in thousands or in lakhs and ministers make it in crores.

It is high time, these kind of corrupt govt officials are dismissed immediately from the job and their unaccounted properties attached. We are tired of these kind of news items once in a while and after the raids, nothing happens to the corrupt officer. There will be inital suspension and confiscation of the cash and slowly after sometime, he gets a transfer, with better posting.
