Bhatkal: One killed, 12 students injured in jeep-truck accident

Bhatkal, Dec 8: A ghastly accident between a jeep and a truck on the national highway near Kumta resulted in the instant death of one person and injuries to 12, among whom three are said to be critical.

The accident occured on Sunday December 8 near Agnashree bridge in Devgi, Kumta.

The deceased has been identified as Muttu Laxman, son of Ishwar Poojary.

The accident took place when the jeep, being driven by Laxman, rammed into a truck.

As many as 12 students of Hubli Ayurvedic Medical College who were in the jeep were injured. They were travelling to Gokarna from Ankola when the accident took place.

The injured were taken to Kumta hospital. Three persons who sustained serious injuries were shifted to Manipal hospital.

A case has been registered in the Kumta police station.
