Bantwal, Dec 11: The Bantwal police on Tuesday December 10 arrested two persons for allegedly illegally collecting toll at the now defunct Panemangalore toll gate.

The arrested are Ravindra and Arafat, residents of Panemangalore Nehru Nagar.

Based on credible information, Bantwal police led by SI Kabbal Raj arrested the duo on Tuesday.

The toll collection at Panemangalore was stopped by the highway authorities after several protests from various organizations and locals following the opening of the toll plaza at Brahmarakootlu. However, there were complaints of forcible and illegal collection of toll at Panemangalore despite the orders.

Ravindra used to work at the Panemangalore toll gate earlier. It is said that along with his friend Arafat, he printed fake receipts and collected toll from lorry drivers and others from other districts who passed through at night.

The police caught them red-handed on Tuesday.

A case has been registered in Bantwal police station.

What about Parking Lot Fee,Many Places in Mangalore we have paid parking which is one more illegal act,Even in KSRTC Bus Stand and Railway Station they have started collecting Parking Fee.

Why cant MCC think of starting up a Legal & Paid Multi Level Parking in Important parts of Mangalore like Hampankatta,Urwa Store,Bejai,State Bank,Balmatta.

Even the toll collection is something which is illegal,The BC Road Mlr Highway must have been completed by 2010 but after 3 years its still incomplete and the roads already have many POTHOLES .

First action should be removal of the toll booth. For Brahmarakootlu,do they have a service road for locals? The lawyers in our city are lazy to the core, why not they file a PIL and stop the toll until the service roads are made.
