Kasargod, Dec 12: In a tragic incident that occurred at Poyyathbail in Manjeshwar, a child died after it accidentally fell into a pond. The child's mother, in her attempt to rescue him, met watery grave too.

The deceased are identified as Jayashree (27), wife of Santhosh and resident of Muttanje, and their son Shobhan, aged three-and-half years.

The incident occurred when they were going to anganwadi on Wednesday December 11 morning.  Shobhan is said to have run ahead and fallen into the pond after losing his balance.

Jayashree, shocked at the sight, jumped to the pond to save her child, but both of them got drowned.

The locals came to know of the death in the afternoon but the mother and son were dead by then.

Santhosh is employed in a bakery in Mangalore. Jayashree is the daughter of Bangappa and Yamuna. She has a brother named Jaya.

    Mr. Santhosh,

Our hearts go out to you in your time of sorrow, Deeply saddened to hear the loss of your wife and child. May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared comfort you now and in the days ahead. May the comfort of God help you during the difficult time. Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer. May their soul rest in peace.

Sad news, may their soul rest in peace, Amen. Should never allow small children to run around where there is danger. Why the pond has no boundary or barriers? Even a cow or dog may fall at any time. Such ponds should have safety boundaries.

    For Justice,

It reminds me of a similar incident in my family, about 30 yrs. ago.

I was with my brother at Summer Sand, sipping beer. My son was hardly 3 yrs and he was found missing and my noticed that he was in the swimming pool and about to drown.. Thank God my wife knew swimming and she jumped and saved our son. Today he is 33 and he himself became a Scuba diver. Working in Kuwait.

    It's all destiny.

That shows mothers true love & sacrifices towards the children.

Let Almighty God unite them in eternal Abode and let the departed souls rest in peace.

Exactly, even though she knew herself that she can't swim, she jumped off the pond without thinking twice shows how a mother loves n cares her kids but what we are giving back to them in most of the cases is pain only!

This is true mother love, but children don't think or give value of that love. Mothers take all pains, suffering,to give birth or take care, but last what they get?
