Mangalore, Dec 12: In a rare occurance, the Jet Airways aircraft arriving from Bangalore at Mangalore International Airport was welcomed by a swarm of bees on Thursday December 12.

The Jet Airways flight was scheduled to land at the airport at noon.

As soon as it landed, a swarm of bees attacked the aircraft taking everyone by surprise.

The passengers were unable to alight from the aircraft for over an hour, it is learnt. There were 59 passengers on board.

The fire tenders at the airport were rushed to the tarmac but despite spraying water, the bees refused to be chased away and kept swarming around the aircraft. The pilot was then directed to taxi on the apron, and the propellers scared away the bees finally after two rounds of taxiing.

The passengers deboarded the flight after the operation was over, and the flight took off to Bangalore an hour later.

Sources said that the bees might have swarmed in from the nearby forest area.

Poor bees of Karnataka, failed to read that the flight is of Jet Airways and from Bangalore. For sure they know lots of gold is coming by flights and looking for their share.
Better, flight name is written in Kannada as well along with boarding\destination port details [like in the case of city buses]. For sure bees will only & strike flights from Dubai.

I could recollect last year bees attacked airindia express. This time they found Jet Airways. They are choosy now. they prefer private airlines than the government one.

Yes we have bees around the airport. Last October in Kavoor (4 kms from Airport) a person who was plucking the coconut was chased by bees. He had to be hospitalized for 2 days for the wounds.

These bees look very aggressive because they might have lost their shelter due to rapid urbanization!!!Now they are searching for real estate kings. They choose Mangalore airport as an ideal destination to start their operation!!. Dangerous!!!!!!!
