Mangalore, Dec 13: Former union minister and Congress leader Janardhan Poojary on Friday December 12 condemned the state government's plans to bring Maths under the control of the state muzrai department and said that the government should not interfere with the Maths, especially as it was not a part of the Congress manifesto.

Addressing a press meet here, he said, “Taking all Maths into the fold of Muzrai department was not mentioned in the party manifesto; hence the government should not interfere. This will hurt the sentiments of devotees.  There are so many Maths like Tumkur Siddaganga Math, Suttur Math, and Krishna Math which serve the poor and needy people by involving themselves in social work."

Directly addressing the government, he said, "Why do you (government) want to interfere in the work done by Maths?  Do you think government officials will do this work of charity? Doesn’t the government have any other work? Today you are trying to take control of all the Maths; tomorrow you may take all churches and mosques into your fold. This is not a work that would benefit people. If there is any wrong doing in the administration of religious centers then there are IPC sections to penalize them."

He added, "Presently the chief minister is doing good work but a few are trying to spoil his efforts. The government should not hurt anyone’s religious sentiments."

He also condemned the proposal of some officials in the union government to impose a ban on arecanut.

"As many as 12 states, several districts of Karnataka like Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Karwar, Uttar Kannada, Chikmagalur, Tumkur, and especially 90% of the coastal areas depend upon arecanut farming. If the government bans arecanut it will push the farmers to suicide. Families of many areca growers will suffer and plunge into misery. Although the World Health Organization (WHO) has mentioned presence of 0.15 alkaloids in arecanut, it is far from truth. Arecanut has many benefits too. There is cholesterol in milk, alcohol contents in syrup and so on, but will the government ban them?" he questioned.

"The chief minister should immediately form an all-party delegation without harbouring any political agendas and meet the Prime Minister of India, the President and the Advocate General and hold serious discussions on this issue. Moreover, opposition party leaders should also raise their voice in the Parliament. I too will bring this issue to the notice of Congress president Sonia Gandhi," he said.

Kallige Tharanath Shetty, Suresh Ballal, Harikrishna Bantwal and Arun Coehlo were present.

    Vincent Rodrigues,
How can you raise a ridiculous doubt that Mutts wont work properly or involved in illegal activities? If you support Mutts to be under Mujurai, what defense you have got for keeping churches and mosques out from Mujarai?

As far as i have heard and understood, illegal activities are most often reported in or supported by religious institutions other than mutts.

Moily and poojary are 2 senior most politicians of congress politicians of the coastal belt.Moily held many ministries and proved a good administrator, but Poojary held ministry for a short period found to be revolutionary. Maturity of the politics is need of the day. Vasnath Bangera is most matured politicians, he does not need party to win election in his home town. Poojary should think that CM post is more important and he cannot dictate the terms in the press conference, please mind that you have no place except lokh sabha of Mangalore and this time you definitely will be nominated by the congress because the situation demands. If you lose this time you have to pack up and sit at home.

Poojary your biggest achievement in political life is press conferences. That's why you were unable to win any elections since last 23 years. Please prepare yourself to 25 days continuous press conferences to celebrate your 25 years without a single win in any elections.

If the Maths work properly, the government interference is not required. If they involve in illegal acts and loot money, it is the duty of the government to regulate and control them.Free allows Mutts may not be a good proposition.Thank you.

Dear Vincent,First you should understand that Siddu is basically a Brahmin dweshi and suffering from the caste inferiority complex. It is natural. He is the person who time and again racked up Kanaka issue earlier when in opposition but his attempts to hijack Saint Kanadasa to his Ahinda failed due to Pejavara sree.He was against made snana earlier. Now doing nothing. His many Bhagya schemes miserably failed due to the opposition within his own party.

Instead of talking about Maths or Arithmatic, Janardhana Pujary should concentrate on the burning issue of Arecanut. Because if Central Govt goes ahead with banning Arecanut consumption then lakhs of farmers in 12 States will have to commit suicide.

In any democracy, the elected government has no right to interfere in it's citizen's faith. Governments come and go citizen's Faith does not change. Therefore Congress, an old allay of Communist dictators known as Soviet Union must keep away from Indian citizens' faith.

He is always flanked by the same 5-6 people who have lost circulation in their own party. Only Vijaykumar Shetty is missing this time because he has been promised Presidentship of some lucrative Nigama-Mandali.
J Pujary's "Soft-Hindutva" has spoiled his chance of getting LS ticket for Mangalore Constituency for 2014.
Harsha Moily's chances are now brighter.

GOVT. SHOULD NOT TARGET ONLY RICH TEMPLE OR MATHS. IF GOVT. WANTS TO BRING UNDER MUZRAI MINISTRY, LET ALL TEMPLES, CHURCH, MASJID TO BE
TARGETTED BOTH RICH AS WELL AS POOR WITH BETTER WELFARE SCHEMES.
THIS IS INDIRECTLY LOOTING SOCIAL WELFARE FUNDS.
MR. JP SHOULD COME OUT OF CONGRESS AND FIGHT FOR PEOPLE'S CAUSE IF HE HAS REAL CONCERN FOR SOCIETY.

    Shri. Janardhan Poojary,
It is time to work in our callings!
Let Politicians take care of efficient governance!
Why politicians are focusing on Temples, Masjids and Churches and other Places of worship?
The matter should be left to their religious heads.
In the same way, let religious not interfere in Politics and business!
