Mangalore, Dec 13: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner N Prakash has been transferred to Bangalore where he will take charge as the labour commissioner.

He had taken charge as DC on December 3, 2012. During state Assembly elections he was temporarily transferred and Harsh Gupta had replaced him. N Prakash resumed charge after the elections.

The outgoing DC was given a warm farewell at a function organized at his office here on Friday December 13.

Addressing the gathering, N Prakash said that he was completely satisfied with the work environment during his tenure.

"All officers cooperated with me very well, because of which I was able to give good administration," he said.

Additional deputy commissioner Dayanand K said that as new DC has not yet been appointed, zilla panchayat CEO Tulasi Maddideni will be taking charge of the district temporarily.

N Prakash was felicitated on the occasion by the officials present.

Towards the end, N Prakash in a kind gesture took off the shawl he was honoured with and wrapped it around Manohar, an officer in the DC's office and said that hard working officers like him truly deserve the Bharat Ratna.

MCC commissioner Ajith Hegde, legal advisor M B Patil, Dr Prashant, and Puttur AC Krishnamurthy were present.

I have very pleasant memories of N. Prakash - a person gifted with wit and humour. Of course a good administrator and efficient officer too who did not mix friendship with business.

I had met a few times in Mangalore and I am sorry that he has laid down his office here. I can only say that wherever he goes he goes with good wishes and blessings from his friends including me.

Farewell to Mr. Prakash and God be with you.
