Lok Sabha elections: Who will be Mangalore's AAP candidate?

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Dec 14: Ever since the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) delivered a stupendous performance in the Delhi Assembly elections, the whole nation is abuzz with hope and excitement. Dakshina Kannada district is no different.

The AAP, having done well in Delhi, is now looking to spread its wings further, and its enthusiastic members in the district are preparing to strengthen its presence in the coastal region.

With the parliamentary elections not far off, the question doing the rounds is - 'Who would be Mangalore's first AAP candidate for the Lok Sabha?'

The most popular candidate at the moment seems to be Nandagopal Srinivasan who was the DK joint secretary of the ad-hoc committee of the party when it was launched in February this year. Currently, he is one of the members of the advisory committee. One of the reasons his name is doing the rounds is because of his ability to organize rallies and galvanize public opinion.

When contacted by daijiworld, Nandagopal was non-committal.

"I personally feel a lot of work has to be done before we can finalize the candidate," he said. "First, we could conduct a proper study of the efficacy of the sitting MP. Then we need to reach out to the people and become aware of their needs. Suggestions for candidature can also come from the general public. After all, our party swears by inclusive democracy and governance."

Nevertheless, it is also uncertain whether the AAP will contest elections in DK at all. Given that funds are limited and the nation vast, the AAP will have to pick its battlefields with care and after a proper feasibility study.

For now, let's wait and watch.

Nanda was into journalism earlier. Being a journalist in Mangalore he remained clean handed and also had to suffer for.. A clean journalist can surely become a clean politician and most able representative of the people. Indian parliament needs persons like him and those who can't utter a word in English?Hindi or those who over talk

Providing free shelter to the slum dwellers is the only expensive promise AAP made. This is only practical when a multistorey building built and distributed to them. Remaining land can be commercialized to cover the cost of the above.
All the other promises can be easily fulfilled in Karnataka easily. How much money is looted by mines, land allocation, bribes for land registration,commissions...? if recovered will be enough.

Best of luck to AAP... Welcome to coastal Karnataka

    Dear Readers,
U all know that how our corrupt politicians & third grade Contractors looted our country for the 66 years. We have about 160 criminals in the Parliament. Corrupt politicians r getting bails easily from the courts whereas poor people r languishing in our rotten jails for years. Our roads, fly overs, highways & bridges r completely gone to dogs.Valuable time has been lost by adjornings & postponing parliamentary & legislative proceedings, wasting a lot of tax payers money. Some Politicians advocating to teach our children in local languages, but sending their children to foreign countries. And U really want to elect these people again during the forth coming elections.Don't expect AAP to do magic just because he has won 28 seats in Delhi. Why can't the supporters of BJP & Congress ask
BJP to form the Government.I strongly believe that now is the right time for us for a change. When our leaders failed miserably to serve us properly for the last 66 years what is wrong to support AAP.

    Dear All,
Here we all want to know about Mr. Nandagopal Srinivasan qualification and present status. Rally anybody can conduct. Now the BJP with new face mask SARDAR PATEL rally. Only to observe about the crowd to dream about the 2014 Lok Sabha Election so let it be a dream for them. In Mangalore, trust AAP will get good support from qualified Mangalorean's. My intention to a qualified candidate go Lok Sabha. From DONGI Congress and Communal BJP we experienced a lot. So this is the right time to kick them from our city. Dear all don't miss the opportunity, prefer a change. No Katil,No Janardhan,No Moily don't even say bye to all these. Glad to say don't show your face again for our FRANCHISE. We are traditionally congress voters, we can't deny that, congress under the leadership of late Mrs Indira Gandhi and her son late Mr. Rajeev Gandhi was an honest party which sincerely worked hard and tried to do best for the people of India, but under the leadership of Mrs Sonia Gandhi the party has become so corrupt and royally looting wealth of the nation, just like what BJP did in Karnataka.
We had backed and Voted for Congress in a recent Karnataka assembly election, as we had no alternative option, thank god we have a option now through the inspiration we got from Delhi assembly results. We have changed our mind and will definitely vote for AAP in Yr 2014 Lok sabha election, we have gotten same feedback from our relatives, friends and well wishers living in M'lore, DK other parts of Karnataka and around the nation.
I request all my fellow M'lorean brothers and sisters living in Coastal district, other parts of Karnataka & around the nation to support and vote for clean, non corrupt AAP (Aam Admi Party) in the upcoming Lok Sabha Poll.
Mr. Nanadagopal is the perfect choice for AAP.

Jai AAP, Jai Hind, Jai Karnataka.

Why can't BJP, which is having more seats than AAP can take support from Congress and form the Govt.?? AAP knows very well the sinister game plan of Congress & BJP. They want to block Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi till Loksabha elections, later they will withdraw their support one or the other pretext and dislodge the Govt. BTW Arvind Kejriwal always told during elections that he is not going to Give or take support from any other party to form the Govt., then why we are blaming him now???
