Mangalore, Dec 15: Minister for minority welfare, Hajj, and Wakf Qamar-ul-Islam on Sunday December 15 said that two acres of land had been identified at Kenjar close to the Mangalore International Airport for the construction of 'Hajj Ghar' and a sum of Rs 3.5 lac has already been released for the fencing of the identified land.

He was speaking to reporters here after paying homage to former mayor Haji Abdul Khader who passed away on Saturday December 14.

"The centre will be able to accommodate around 1,000 Hajj pilgrims from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagalur, Hassan and Kodagu districts. The Hajj Ghar will be functional by 2015. The construction of Hajj Bhavan in Bangalore is in the final sage. Five acres of land has also been identified near the airport in Gulbarga for the construction of Hajj Ghar, the minister added.

Information centre

The government is contemplating setting up of information centers similar to the single window system. "Eight of the ten centres have already been identified in the first phase and we will add more centers in the second phase. The purpose of establishing these centres is to simplify the process of availing government schemes for minorities. At least two people employed in each center will advise minorities about the schemes and also train NGOs," he said.

Loan and subsidy to purchase plot or house

The minister announced that Rs 25 crore has been earmarked in the budget to provide loan and subsidy up to Rs one lac to purchase a plot or a house. He also said that the government would increase the subsidy for minorities in micro-loan scheme from 25 percent to 50 percent.

Bidaai scheme

The minister said that under the Bidaai scheme (Shaadi Bhagya), underprivileged women belonging to Muslim, Christian, Jain and Buddhist communities can avail the facility. He said that Rs 10 crore would be distributed among 2,000 girls belonging to minority communities for their marriage. Among the total amount, Rs 5 crore has been earmarked for Muslims and Rs 2 crore for Christians, he added.

You can find many Hindus saying " saipunedudu dumbu ora kashigu podu barodu. oikula kaas bodathe".
If Govt. is real secular, it should take care of pilgrimages of all communities. If subsidies are given to Haj pilgrimage for Muslims, Christians too are entitled for subsidies either to a trip to Vatican or Holyland Jerusalem. Same yardstick to Hindu's too.

You are absolutely 101% right...and this is why our india is called secular democracy. I think we will have to teach our ministers what is the meaning of secular democracy.

Vote again for BJP in the coming LS elections, elect it with absolute majority. we can expect uniform civil code and total removal of appeasement policies towards any community. we live in a secular country , so the rule( and also rights and previledges) of the land are equal to everyone.

    Dear Suleman Udupi,
We respect and honour religious performance of haj. Its private issue of every individual in Muslim community. Kindly tell me how Haj pilgrimage will boost tourism except air ticket and benefit to the airline industry. We have no issues in spending amounts to build Haj ghar for the community. It will be utilized only during the pilgrimage once a year is it worth spending huge amount as a dead investment? I do agree that government spends money on math and temples criticized by all other communities. Most of the temples are under the control of the endowment ministry (govt.)and all income generated by offering of the devotees taken by the government ( huge amount ).

The government should spend the money offered by the devotees for the betterment of the public like roads, schools, hospitals etc.. The funds allocated to maths spent for this kind of charity works. Temples will spend the govt. aids to minimum facilities like drinking water, sanitation, accommodation facility to devotees and temple staff whats wrong in this aid? Furthermore how many Churches or mosque are under govt. control? or under endowment ministry? Is any income of such Church and mosque taken by government? All parties congress, BJP and others are breaking the community on religion basis to garner votes. No-one is really bothered the well being of any community and unity of this nation. We are all criticizing one another by the affiliation to individual political parties which is the saddest part of our society.

The minority community must wake up and demand to be educated and earn for themselves rather than accept the 'bheekh' given to them by the government. The govt also thinks that doing for the minorities is enough. They should realise that the others form a sizeable number and the Delhi results show that people have woken up and that giving free sops for a few cant help a party win elections. They may be earning the goodwill of the minorities but at the same time there is too much anger amongst others for being discriminated for no fault of theirs. This proves that congress govt is the most corrupt, communal and regressive.

We love these Creeps... some are making people to run for unity...if people will run then where is unity? Some people want to have Haj Ghar...how about people who have no Ghar, how God will bless if you guys don't build houses for poor homeless people or feed hungry people? You guys should learn how Mother Theresa sacrificed her life for the poor, homeless and hungry there was no creed no religion..she treated every God's created person equally as one and as a human being.

Haj is of course is a private matter at the same time will benefit Govt. to generate income by tourism. Haj Bhavan is only a transit point where different part of the pilgrim people get assembled for a day two so that the flight is full. It is far less compared to aid given to the Mutt, Mandir etc which has no accountability and I have not seen such negativity from the public.

The Govt is constructing Hajj Ghar for the Hajiis, and allotted 2 acres land but for the poor or disabled or ex-servicemen there is no land, if there it is only three cents. It is happy that the Central Govt has abolished the subsidy for the Haj people. If anything Govt want to do it should be equal to all religions. Mr Siddaramiah, Please look into this and do the needful, what is done for Hindus, Christians or other religions or poor people. Give this grant to poor or those who need for their medical..

Minority class is protected all over the world whether it is USA or in pakistan. They have been providing subsidy and loan even in USA. In india the minority communities are used as Vote Bank by both the national political parties. In actual case nobody want to uplift the backwardness of minorities. While the congress is giving the benefit in paper only and only those who r close to the minister are getting the benefit from it.On contra the BJP will tell the people that look this people are appeasing Muslims so hindu should unite and give your vote to us,If you look at the sacchar committee report it will tell u that only 2 % Muslim has been employed in Govt., military and political sphere while the population percentage is 15.Second thing is that the majority of needy people don't get the benefit from this facility. You can see that many rich people are having the below poverty line BPL ration card while many poor people r deprived of it.

My personal opinion is separate religion from politics. Let people from the community build what they desire as per their need!! Please keep your religion restricted to own home and place of worship! This must be applied to all religion including BD! Spare the roads to citizens of all religion!
