Mangalore: Actor Darshan sets ball rolling for Sri Narayana Guru Tulu movie

The muhurat for the Tulu movie 'Brahmashri Narayana Guruswamy' based on social reformer Sri Narayana Guru, was held on Sunday December 15 at the premises of Shree Durgaparameshwari Temple, Mulky.

Sandalwood's popular 'Challenging Star' Darshan was the cynosure of all eyes as he symbolically sounded the clapboard for the movie.

The film is being produced under the banner of Thungabandra Productions. Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde rolled the camera.
 
Addressing the gathering, Darshan said, "People should encourage such films wholeheartedly. It will also help the younger generation to know the social reformer better. Films can help the young generation emulate such personalities by portraying them on screen. I wish that movie wins all state and central awards and that my friend Siddharth's efforts are applauded by the audience."

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, “The spiritual thoughts of Sri Narayana Guru brought in social reforms hundreds of years ago. His effort to eliminate caste discrimination and his services to society are motivating factors for the current administration. The movie should set an example to the market-driven film fraternity."
 
Rashtriya Billawa Sangha president Jaya C Suvarna presided over the occasion. Script writer Sudhakar Bannanje introduced the technicians and artists of the film. During the programme, Mulky Suvarna Arts felicitated Darshan.
 
Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, Sathyanandatirtha Swamiji of Shivgiri Temple, Kerala, Tulu Academy former president Umanath Kotian, and temple trustee Manohar Shetty were present.
