Russian torchbearer dies after carrying Olympic flame


Moscow, Dec 16 (IANS): Russian torchbearer Vadim Gorbenko died of a heart attack after running a leg of the Sochi Winter Olympic torch relay in Siberia, Russian media reported Monday. He was 73.

Gorbenko, a former Greco-Roman wrestling coach, suffered the heart attack after running in Kurgan Sunday. He was taken to hospital where he died later.

The Sochi Winter Olympics will be held Feb 7-23 next year.
