Mangalore, Apr 29: A driver and a cleaner who attempted to sell the diesel tanker without the knowledge of the owner have been arrested on Thursday April 27 night.

The police have also seized the diesel laden tanker worth Rs 6 lac and diesel worth Rs 6.80 lac from the duo.

Abdul Razak (26) of Kerala and Suresh Shetty (30), a resident of Arantod near Sullia had filled in diesel from the Reliance outlet at Panamubor and had left for Yashwantpur in Bangalore.  They were supposed to reach Bangalore on the next day.

However, when the tanker did not reach Yashwantpur, the Reliance authorities filed a complaint with the Panmabur police.  Accordingly, the police began investigation and arrested the duo on Thursday night.

While Suresh was arrested at Chikkady near Belur, driver Abdul Razak was held at Kunigal.  They had hidden the tanker at Hoskote and were waiting for the buyers.
