Sullia, Apr 29: Perhaps animals exercise a better control over their instincts than some persons for whom women are nothing but mere objects.  The clear indication of this is the growing number of sexual assaults and rape cases in the undivided district of Dakshina Kannada in the last couple of months.

Now one more such inhuman act has been reported from Bettampady near here.  A 65 year old person is accused of raping a 6 year old girl at Shantinagar of Bettampady near here on Thursday April 27.

The accused Eshwar Bhat (65) is a cook by profession and earns his living by cooking for various functions such as marriages, naming etc in the area.  However, no one knew what was cooking in his mind all these years.

On Thursday he lured a six-year-old girl from neighbourhood when his two daughters were away from home.  He took her inside promising to give her chocolate and then raped her.  Some sources also said that after raping the girl, he gave her Rs 50 and asked her not to reveal the act to anyone.

Accordingly the girl went home and did not inform anyone about this.  But when was taken ill suddenly later in the day, she informed them about the sexual assault.  Immediately she was taken to the doctor for treatment.

Meanwhile as soon as Eshwar came to know that his crime had come to light, he went missing.  The Sullia police are on search to nab him after girl's father Bhaskar filed a case with them on Friday April 28.
