Mangalore, May 1: The Ullal police led by inspector Anand Kabburi have arrested two persons for supplying cattle illegally to Lakshadweep via port here on Sunday April 30 night.

The arrested have been identified as Shahul Hameed and Mohan.  Both are residents of Kasargod in Kerala.  They were caught at Someshwar-Ucchil on Sunday night while transporting 7 cows and a bull in a lorry.

The arrested are said to be involved in the trading of cattle to Lakshadweep via Old Port here for long.  They used to collect cows from in and around the city and other parts of the districts and hide them in a place near Old Port before supplying them to Lakshadweep in a boat.

The Ullal police are investigating the case.
