Puttur, May 2: A water-pump made history by doing a springboard act in Kaniyoor town in the taluk last week.

A borewell was being sunk for a commercial complex belonging to Timmappa Gowda and during the operation, an electric pump belonging to one Damodar Gowda, operating at a distance of 20 ft, made a high vault, landed on the upper story and got stuck there.

It has puzzled many as to what factors and combinations led to the phenomenon. The commercial complex and the vaulting pump belonged to two different persons.

There was already an objection from Damodar Gowda regarding the sinking of the borewell by Timmappa Gowda and a complaint had been filed with the police.

But much before the police arrival, the smaller pump is said to have registered a mark of protest by making a high-jump into the commercial complex, with some telling effect.
