Sullia, May 2: A man died of suffocation while gulping a banana down the throat at Aletty near last week.

Ramanna Naika (520, a task supervisor with the Karnatataka Forest Development Corporation (KFDC) and resident of Ceylon Repatriates' Colony (CRC), was eating a banana at home. It is said to choked his throat.

Apparently out of disbelief that a banana could have such a deadly effect, he was not given immediate medical attention and he is said to have died the soon after.

It is said to be a very rare case in medical history, according to doctors here.
