Mangalore, May 2: In a shocking incident a soldier of Tamil Nadu origin was brutally murdered in a moving train at Tokur railway station near Mulki here in the early hours of Tuesday May 2.

Timson (32), a resident of Tenkashi in Tamil Nadu was a soldier in Indian Army.  He had gone to Madgoan a few days ago for training along with his colleague Subrahmanya of Madhurai. On Monday night they had started back from Madgaon to Tamil Nadu on Ernaculam-Hazrath Nizamuddin Mangala Lakshadweep Express.

As train reached Tokur station near Mulki, Timson asked Subrahmanya to fetch water to him as he was feeling giddy.  So Subrahmanya went to fetch water.  But by the time he came back with water within a few minutes, Timson was brutally murdered.  It appeared that he was hacked to death.  His head was chopped.

However, it is not known as who killed him. Though there are doubts about the possible involvement of Subrahmanya in the murder, it appears false since he was not in the place at the time of murder.  The railway police have however registered it as an accident stating that he might have been hit by the door.

However, it is quite surprising to know that no one came to know about the murder though it took place in a general compartment.  The general opinion of the public as well as the passengers is that this could be murder.

However, it is too early to predict anything.  Only a detailed investigation would throw light on the case.  The railway police are investigating the case.
