Bantwal, May 3: It seems that this is the high time for the police to take stringent action against those who involve in violence such as rape, assault, teasing on women.  Otherwise the days are not far when the district will be considered the worst place for the women to live.

These days rape cases are reported almost everyday basis.  One more such case has now been reported from Kalayi near Amunje near here on Tuesday May 2 evening.

A housewife from Kalayi was raped by two persons on Monday April 17 in a lonely place while she was returning home.  Jayanti (name has been changed to preserve the anonymity) was on her way home when two youngmen caught her hand and pulled her behind a bush in a lonely place.  There they raped her after pushing clothe piece in her mouth.

After raping her they are said to have threatened Jayanti against informing about it to anyone including her husband.  They also snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled the place.

Fearing the duo, Jayanti did not inform about it to anyone.  But having observed her become very dull in the last few days, her husband forced her to tell the reason.  It was only after much pressuring that she revealed him the entire episode.  Enraged by this her husband filed a case with the Bantwal police station on Tuesday May 2.

The Bantwal police have begun investigation after registering the case.  However, the accused are said to be absconding ever since.
