Mangalore, May 4: Rains, which soaked the city and the neighbouring areas on Thursday evening, was a respite from the otherwise warm and sultry weather.

The early signs of a good shower were noticed within the city by 6.30 pm. However thunder and lightning accompanied the lashing rain, which took everyone by surprise.

Unprepared for the rains, the people were seen taking shelter in shops and bus stops. Roadside vendors called it a day as the continuous downpour, which lasted for more than 2 hours, hit their business.

Clogging of drains, flooding of roads was a common sight with rickshaws the only saviours.

The drizzle continued. A delightful rainy evening draped Mangalore and around with a wave of coolness.
