Rony D'Cunha honoured at Abbasiya Christmas event

Kuwait, Dec 30: The Konkani community of St Danial Comboni parish, Abbasiya organized a Christmas party at the Indian Central School (ICS) Auditorium on Friday December 26, from 7 pm onwards.

The program commenced with formal welcome by compere of the evening Deepak Andrade and Cynthia Lobo followed by dance on prayer song.

Fr Noel D'Almieda, Fr Roshan Rosario, Sr Serena, Sr Lenita Lobo and Sr Philomena were welcomed to the stage. Fr Noel D'Almieda welcomed the gathering. A Christmas cake was cut along with committee members to mark the celebration. Fr Roshan Rosario delivered the Christmas message to the audience.

Christmas tableau on birth of Christ was enacted under the direction of Mabel Suvarna which was meaningful and appreciated by all which was followed by carol singing by Konkani choir group. The main attraction of the event was music by Music Maestro and 'A R Rehman of Konkani' Adrian Gomes and his sons Alister and Alston.

Konkani’s dream boy and Golden voice of Konkani fame Rony D’Cunha along with his his wife Jasmine D’Cunha were felicitated with Shawl, Fruit basket, traditional cap and Man Potr for his contribution to Konkani community and Konkani music in Kuwait. His son Jeswin D’Cunha was present on the dais during this occasion. Rony D’Cunha shared his feelings with the audience.

Audience were thoroughly enjoyed the dances by different groups of Abbassiya, rib tickling jokes and Christmas carol instrumentals by Adeline and Alyn Mendonca. Hamper draw and housie was conducted as part of fund raising. Prizes were distributed for the winners of competition organized for Christmas. Sponsors were honored with flowers during the event.

Children were excited, as they were loaded with lots of chocolates and goodies once Santa made his entry. Audiences were entertained with melodious songs by Rony D’Cunha, Jasmine D’Cunha, Morvine Quadras, Maxy Pinto, Jeswin D’Cunha and Alyn Mendonca. The music was provided by Adrian Gomes and his sons Alister and Alston.

Lots of spot prizes were awarded in between the dance session. Rony D’Cunha, Jasmine D’Cunha and Morvine Quadras made the crowd to dance on their feet with the tremendous music of Adrian Gomes and his sons Alister and Alston. It was an unforgettable musical moment for the audience to dance to the tune of golden voice for the music of Konkani’s AR Rehman.

Ronnie Fernandes delivered the word of gratitude and Fr Noel D'Almeida offered the grace before meal. A grand dinner prepared by M & M Confectionery/Caterers was served at the end. The program was well compered by Deepak Andrade and Cynthia Lobo.

    Congrats Rony and Jasmine -You definitely are superb and may you receive many many more awards. I am sure very soon Jeswin will be on the stage too following your footstep. We definitely missed the celebrations in Kuwait.

    St Daniel Comboni Konkani Community Celebrated their First Christmas Family get together under the leadership of their Spiritual Director Fr. Noel D’ Almeida on Thursday 26th December 2013 at Indian Central School Abbasiya,
    It was a huge success with people looking forward for the next year. Congratulations all committee members for the hard work. Keep up the spirit…and many more to come

    Oops! I hope in coming days somebody to be donate an apartment to Rony D'cunha in Mangalore as he can store his Mementos, Maan-patr, Mundas, Shawls & other Awards which he received from all over the world. I salute this personality with the support of Jasmine, in next 10-15 years there will be a Museum & a Guinness Record to receive most Awards in Konkani History. Many thanks to Abbasiya Parish, Fr. Noel Almeida to recognize them as they are gems of Kuwait/India/World. Nice program, nice people & everything superb.
