Mangalore, May 5: A programme in honour of Tipu Sultan was organised by the Muslim Vikas Parishat at Kandaya Bhavan here on Thursday May 4.

Mangalore University History department reader B Uday, speaking on the occasion, lamented that Tipu Sultan, who had offered tough resistance to British, was called a religious extremist and opinions against Tipu were created by the British in order to mislead the public.

He lauded the new innovations introduced in the kingdom by Tipu. Among those present were History researcher A Vahab Doddamane and Ibrahim Kodijal.
