Mangalore, May 5: The first showers of the season that came as a surprise to all, however, have had their own share in causing loss in several places. While a tree that fell near Jyothi Bus Stand on a car caused major loss, lightning strike near Derlakatte gutted a house partially.
Lightning struck one Chandrashekhar's house at Nityanandnagar near Derlakatte here around 2 am on Friday May 5, damaging the kitchen and bathroom entirely.
The family members were sleeping in the house at the time of tragedy. However, no casualties have been reported. Only the bathroom and kitchen have entirely been gutted in the incident. The total loss has been estimated at Rs 1.5 lac.
